I'm looking at getting invaders, i wanna take a try at a soft park ski.
I mainly ski park. Lots of rails and tables. But i'm torn between getting the smaller 171, or the bigger 178. I'm around 5 9 145 pounds. personally, im leaning towards the 171, but im not sure. I've been skiing 175's for the last 2 years.
Any advice is appreciated?

I'd go with the 171's is I were your size, how did the 175s that youve been skiing on feel?

well i didnt bother doing the math to convert 5 9 into centimeters, but whichever size is closest to your height id say. and if youve been skiing 175s you should probably go for the 178s you wont regret it

Unsure where your previous skis have been mounted, but if you have been on 175's, and are contemplating invaders..remember that they will be centremounted so they will ski a bit shorter
i'd say 178's

the 178s will give you a little more stability on landings and what not.
if you've been on 175s for the last two years, i'd probably go with the 178s
i guess the best way would be to test ride both pairs and see which you like better.
i'm 5'10" and i ride 175s...
do whatever feels best

ive been skiing the 06 troubles and crichtons, they felt good? I unno, it's all ive know for the past couple of years. The tails are stiffer in them, are they not? I want a good light, rail ski that i can jump around on really good.

im thinking 178 is a bit too long unless youre growing, I'm 6'2" 180lbs and I ride a 178 invader. Though I wouldnt mind a larger size for myself, the advantage is minimal.
A 171 for you will be easier to turn, butter, and spin on.
And it's by no means small for you.

the guy at the shop said that the only thing that will be different, for me, is the 178's will ride more stable.
will 171's give a huge amount more on backseat landings?

178 is closer to 175 then 171. I say go with the 178's with the center mount they will not feel any bigger then the 175's you've been riding.

178, if your other skis were centre mounted then its an extra 1.5 cm on each side, almost unnoticeable

If you are center mounting 178 will be fine but if you aren't really hitting any big jumps then 171 should be fine as well, overall if you are gonna grow any more than 178 but if not 171 is fine but 178 is ideal i believe

ya, i had the same problem. i was thinking either 171s or 179s, i weigh 150 and probally about 175cm. i ended up going with the 179s, and im happy with my choice.
