Camcorder miniDV vs HDD

After looking though the hundreds of threads on this topic I still can't decide on a camcorder. Im looking for the most i can get for no more than $500. Right now I'm stuck between the
Panasonic PV-GS320

and the Sony DCR-SR42.

I'm really not sure what the difference is in quality between a miniDV and a hard drive camera. Whats easier to work with and what camera will be better for filming skiing?

get mini DV           

once the tape fills up just swap it out and continue filming HDD not possible.

Did you end up going with the PV-GS320? I was thinking about the same one.

Found this deal through circuit city for $396 and supposedly there is a coupon you can get an extra 10% off if you order online, but pick up in a store. 

Have you seen any better offers?

i ended up buying the pv-gs320 and for the price there is nothing that beats it, i got mine off B&H for $380 or so. The quality is good the color is good and all around its just a good camera for messing around with which is all im doing with it. I havent gotten a chance to use it on the mountain yet though
