I was looking at ski boots online and have had the same pair for years and the flex index really suprised me. Most boots out there seem to be withing the 100 flex range. But mine are only a 45 would that seem to hold me back. Also, I am an advanced/expert skier who weighs about 160 and am 5 foot 7. Any opinion helps. Thanks.
comparing flex indexes across different boot manufacturers is completely useless - they are totally unrelated.
i.e an 80 flex salomon boot would probably be equivalent to a 95 nordica etc..
In saying that, a flex range between 60-100 is where you should be looking ( but as mentioned, each manufacturer should be treated on it's own when it comes to flex rating.)
what brand boots do you have that are a 45 flex?
If they are the Salomon Performa 4 then you need a better boot.
