Unconventional terrain

anyone do that comp at mad river?  anyone know if they open up the liftline cliffs for it?

I know they used to but I think recently they have just been doing it on the upper part with the smaller ledges. It all depends on snow though I would think, but on a good snow year they probably will open the bottom for the comp. sometimes they do for a day or two randomly if its just too nice not to share

yeah, its eastcoast, but they have soem pretty gnar ganr terrain.  biggest hucks are around 30.  higher than that the landings just get a little too sketch with all the trees.

they have a couple of things, my dads into it, and I know the guy who is probably gonna win it this year

not the only big mtn comp. check out the castlerock challenge at sugarbush.  some good size hucks and some crazy good skiing with some dope prizes.  I won 300$ at mammut last year for third.  first place got head mojo 90's. there were about 40 skiers, some pretty hack and some real sick guys. a couple years ago a guy threw down a gnar backflip off a rock.  it runs right down the castlerock liftline and is in late february. unconventional terrain is in late january.

I did the mad river unconventrail triple crown event like 5 years ago. I think i got like 6th place, it was only time i have competed in it. It was low snow year, it kinda of sucked. The trail its on is liftline under the single chair. It is one of the sickest liftline trail in vermont by far. There are a few nice hits, that you can boost, and are flip-able and good for spins. It is comparable to caslterock liftline at sugarbush. If the condition are right, i think i am going to compete in it this winter and the sugarbush/castlerock one. Beside the caslterock event at the sugarbush and this one, it the only ec big mtn comps that sick terrain. They are both fun events compete in, there are some good pirze at the mad river one.

What kind of stuff did they give away in the past at Mad River? I'm thinking about doing it, but I'd need to buy a full price ticket plus entry fee.

i wish there were more of these event. like a EC BM series.  it would definetley be doable if mountains opened up some of their closed liftline drops.  or perhaps a hike and ski at the top of mansfield. or a tucks competition.
