Okay so its not entirely closed but the Green Mountain Club and Jay have built a fence at the base of the back side of the mountain to stop people from getting there. At the so called "Informational Meeting" the speaker said that you could still go there if you wanted to skin 2-3 miles form the road. The whole organization is going crazy about that illegally cut trail that was cut by a couple of dumb asses during the summer. They said that there are serious erosion issues and instead of just closing off what they refer to as the "gash" they would rather ruin backcountry skiing in the Northeast Kingdom. The guy wouldnt even give us a timeline for when it would be reopened. Said it could be next year or it could be 20. the way these guys are going about the problem my bet is on 20 years.
Just thought those of you who heard about it but didnt know what was going on, would like to know what it going on.
Really pisses me off but with the amount of snow we're getting that fence will be buried in a month.
