Okay i  am just got a sony handy cam the higher resoulution one. I was wonderin if i should just use windows movie maker and stuff or if i should buy some other sofware. I know this sounds like a really simple question but does windows movie maker allow you to speed up the segments so you can film clouds or a lift for 30 minutes and then speed it up, i know i am a noob. Thnks!

but a good program or download it , but window's movie software is basically the cheapest shit in the market, the worst one. So if your going to be doing something fancy get a good program, and that will help you edit you TIME LAPSE segments

Final Cut. it's for Macs only, but its the way to go. That, or AVID.

WMM isn't awful if you know how to use it.  All of my edits are with it and I know how to cheat it out of looking bad, so it looks not too bad at all.  I would reccomend something better, though, and I'm getting premiere CS3 very soon

yeah, i know friends that can actually do decent editing with WMM, but adope premier would deffinatly be easier once you get the hang of it.

for quick non artistic edits it works great! super easy to use just not many features.

duh i know i am a noob at this, my friend pirated some software that is good and i might just have him give that to me i just won't see him for like 2 weeks and i kinda want somethin sooner than that.
