hey brand new to this site, just heard of it from a friend, ive been skiing for a while now and im decent, whats a good size ski for me, im looking for the jp vs. julien im 6'2 175 agressive skier and i rarely ski park?
For your height and weight, the 188's would be the appropriate size. Where do you ride, what type of terrain are you riding? (Groomers, backcountry, trees, open bowls, and how steep.) And how strong of a skier do you consider yourself? If you are still progressing as a skier, a shorter ski will be more manageable, yet not as stable at speed. Like I said, based on the information you provided, the 188's would be my recommendation.
a lot of people come to this site for the first time or as beginners to the site, like i did, always thinking that the size of the ski they wanted was right when in fact its usually the size up.. i jumped to a 181 and im 6'0 roughly, skiing on the rossi ghetto, but i also have the 177volkl wall cuz im 150lbs and failr light for my height, and the 177 feels more comfortable standing next to it. again, i havent been able to ski on either yet, just the 174 on the ghetto at a demo and it was perfect. but yeah, throw down a ski around the 185+ range and stand on it and see how it feels, immediately if u think its wayyyy to big or too much to carry/ride then set it back, some companies measure a hair different so get some variety. hope this helps and good luck with your choice. cheers
really personal preference though...im 5 11 and 165 and i ride a 169 and a 171 cuz i like my skis short and nimble. really you just gotta demo some different sizes and see what works best with you.
