How the heck do I make my member icon small enough

Ok, I am having some serious difficulty making my member icon small enough to upload, any suggestions?

ok i understand how to do it but which size do i need it on th link above.  nad what does 8k stand for.

1.  Find a pic on google or wherever
2.  Save Picture As to your comp
3.  Go to the above web address
4.  Click Browse, select your pic
5.  Choose 50 x 50
6.  Do it up
7.  You'll get a zip file downloaded.  Take the pic from that zip file (it should be under the size limit) and put it on ns

And 8k probably means 8 kilobytes

i did all of that but it still wont let me make a icon

get a pic off the internet, then open it in Windows photo Gallery, or Microsoft Office Picture Maneger, or Photoshop (except if u hav photoshop I expect u know how to do this!) then click "Resize image" then when you make it "50 x 50" make sure you "uncheck" the little box "preserve aspect ratio" so it doesnt make the pic 50x47 or something (that doesn't work). then just save it and upload ur icon. To get rid of your current one, just make sure you click reset before you put your new one in the little bar for icons.  It'll take a while, because I think it goes through all your past posts and updates those too.  Mine took around 2-3 days, I think, from what I can remember.

once you add the new one, it'll instantly replace it. If you are still seeing the old one, what's most likely happening is that your browser cookies has cached the old one.. while everyone will see your new one, you won't... until you erase your cache.

To do this just go to your browser and Delete Browser History > Delete All (In Internet Explorer).
Firefox it's Clear All Data.

And I should be re-uploading my icon pack on here tomorrow. so you guys can snatch up one of the thousand custom made ones for ns we got

yeah definately

i've had this icon for as long as ive been on this site, i cant find another one that matches its awesomeness.  Its rediculous, im skiing sometimes and i'll ask kids if they use NS, and i'll tell them my user name and they all go "oh you're the one with the flashing lobster"

go to paint, crop it then shrink to 50' by 50' . it will say in the bottom right corner when you shrink it

If your icon is slightly smaller then 50 by 50pix. Make it exactly 50 by 50. This makes it able to be used. I couldnt figure out why mine wasnt working, and it was actully smaller then the requiremnets.

yeah same.  I've been the kid with pikachu, and I like it b/c its really bright and obvious, so everyone notices it.  I haven't been on for even 2 years yet and I feel like I'm attached to it...and that if I change it no one will know who I am anymore.

if your making the icon in paint make sure to save it  as a jpeg, jpg..... there's a drop down of options when you go to save. should help you get the pic within size

1. google resize pic.
2. click on the first link.
3. upload pic.
4. write 50 50 on those 2 little squares.
5. save image to computer.
6. upload in ns.
