Use a file to detune and then a gummi stone to deburr the edges. Just take the file and run it at a 45 degree angle to the edge. As for how much you should take off is all really up to preference. Don't take too much though as that will weaken the edge and leave you susceptible to edge cracks.
Well I think I just got used to having super dull edges around my underfoot so now when I have something sharp it just feels different. I never fell due to having sharp edges, it was just a weird feeling.
