skiing and college

ive recently seen a lot of posts about kids who want to go to university of utah or ucolo. at boulder or whatever because they want to ski all the time. i think its pretty funny cuz they'll soon realise that when they're in college they really wont have that much time to ski (unless they are ungrateful bastards who are having their parents pay to send them to ski). basically my rant is, dont choose a college thinking you're going to ski everyday because the odds are you arent. if you want to ski everyday than just rent an apartment and get a job, but dont waste your money on college.

^ plus, you can usually get time off around the holidays (usually around a month or so) to ski or whatever, and you get winter/spring break to ski...

ahh i think they know that they are not going to get to ski everyday, w u they do know that they get great skiing at aleast 2or3 times a week, depends how your classes are ordered,

stowek2: yep..theres a few skilled ones...a good number who love it and want to progress, then a bunch of morons that are trying to impress the boys by wearing as little clothing as possible and as much make-up as possible on the hill

I go to school up in sacred heart unversity in CT ( 2 hours away from mount snow, stratton, okemo, mountain creek etc) I didn't have a car my first 2 years so it was a big fucken pain in the ass, so the only way I could really get around was through other people, or if i went home to get my car. I would go night skiing here and there with some buddies, or shoot to VT once in a while, but now Ive got my own house and car, so it will be alot easier to go whenever I want. All you gotta do is schedule your classes to the way you want, and work around it and you will be golden. Its all about your major to, if you have an easy major you will be skiing alot more, if your major is tough, u will find your ass in the library more

I went to college in washington carried a full load of classes on tuesday and thursday, worked nights and skied over four days a week. It can be done, your parents don't have to pay for everything, and you sure as hell don't have to study in Colorodo to ski durring the winter.

yeah, that's a crock. i skiied 4-6 times/week during the season and had 16 credits/semester, was a teaching assistant, sysadmin'd 3 networks of 20+ people each, graduated magna cum laude w/a 3.78 in computer science from uvm, and am going to dartmouth for grad school on an academic scholarship (i'm not bragging, just making a point). andy'll back me up on this stuff. it's all about getting your shit together.

p.s. my grades went up when i started to drink (a lot)

You can get a good number of days in at college. Id say I have actually increased my ski days since coming to colorado, and I skied quite a bit back in wisconsin. Although its tough sometimes you can tweak your schedule later on, ski on the weekends, and ski a lot during break. If you can manage your time you can ski a lot, and have a job too (although its tougher). Its selfish to make your parents pay for you to ski, but not if you are after other pursuits like quality of life, academics and what not.

Killy is obviously an idiot who can't understand how to schedule classes around skiing. I'm fulltime at school and I can get 2-5 days a week in at either Whistler, Seymour, Grouse or Cypress if I'm desperate. Oh and my Whistler pass costs me $384 Canadian. That's approximately $5 American, so I don't even need to be rich to ski. College is the best thing that's EVER happened to my skiing. And go ask Anthony Boronowski about going to college fulltime and skiing, he'll tell you what's up.

Yeah, killys definitely a stupid mother fucker who doesnt know shit-all about fuck-ass. I'd say come join me up here in the in the great clean north at UBC and hit up whistler, but then youd have to get jacked by international prices and a university that works like a corporation to squeeze every last penny out of you and/or your parents.

it all depends on the class.. like i am taking a Technical writing class online, its just bullshit papers every monday (they are due) compared to that of online chemistry which my roomate failed haha
