So i was wonderin..which one would you guys go with? I like the bern helmets but don;t like all the controversy surrounding them.. I also would rather have a helmet without one of those visors so I kinda like the Macon more. Basically was looking for some info from people that have rocked the Macon before since theres a shit ton of threads about the baker, thanks

i donno, thats the only down side so far because it dosent have that much protection, but its a lot better than not wearing one! yea and if you hit your head really hard it might not do that much good. and i didnt realize that before i bought it, but i like it.

i have a bern macon its great, as for protection it says(straight out of the booklet that came with it) that for the Baker and the Macon:
"This helmet does not meet the applicable saftey standards for skateboarding, biking, snowboarding and skiing. It is engineered and tested to pass th EN 1385 standard for Helmets for canoeing and other water sports. This helmet is intended to offer some protection but cannot guard against all types of impacts causing injury to the head, neck, cervix, or spine. The saftey features of this helmet will provide only minimal protection."
this is for last years, im pretty sure that the 08's are approved.
im not sure what the saftey standards are but im sure they are pretty high, so i still feel comfortable wearing this helmet, its better than nothing and will still provide more protection than they make it sound, they just have to put all that minimal protection stuff to warn the buyer. Hope this helps.

as far as I know, Bern are offering their helmets in two different forms this year - 'hard hat' and 'EPS foam' (which is certified), for the same price. Why they even bother offering the hard hat foam is beyond me, ditto why anyone would want it.

the 08s are certified under the helmet law thing. nothing before is but they still offer pretty much the same protection. the 08s just have a eps liner.
