Hey Guys,
I know this is a little last minute but I am looking into maybe trying to head up to Jackson Hole Wyoming this Saturday the 15th and ski from Monday through next Thursday [the 20th], then head back to Golden where I'm from on Friday the 21st.
I'm a Junior at the Colorado School of Mines and am lookin for someone in the area who might want to head up there with me for a few days who can hang on some gnar terrain and has some BC equipment/experience
[Avy Gear definite +++] I ski on 06' k2 Seth's mounted with the Marker Duke AT bindings and g3 climbing Skins and always try to carry my Avalung, Beacon/GPS Locator, Shovel, First Aid Kit, ect.. with me when I'm hiking BC stuff and stay safe.
I've been looking on Jackson's website and it looks like they have a lot of terrain open and have been getting as much [if not more] sick pow as we have lately; they have over a 49" base on the upper mountain already and have over 51 trails open, plus they have just opened some of the gnarly above treeline terrain like Cheyenne Bowl, Laramie Bowl, Rendevous Bowl, ect... and the sweet lines off of the quads like Alta and Tower Three Chutes.
A 4-day ticket this time of year for young adults [up to 21] would be $239.00, and an adult 4-day ticket for those over 21 would e like 20 bucks more; a little pricy but worth it for Jackson. We would be staying at the Hostel-X which is THE ski bum/ locals place to stay in Jackson, it's actually really nice, not your typical hostel, the rooms have private bathrooms and are bunk-style but decent sized, and are only $60.00/night for one or two people, and $74.00/night for 3 or 4 people per room, which I've done, its not uncomfortable at all, a little cozy but hey we are in Jackson Hole, Right?
The Hostel also has a sweet common area to hang out in with all kinds of cool locals and ski memorabilia all around, the atmosphere is badass. You can check em' out at www.hostelx.com. Anyways I was thinking of leaving this Saturday morning early, if the roads are OK which they look like they will be, the drive is ~9 hours from Golden, long but well worth it. I am happy to drive but can only take two other people max, preferably one in my truck.
I figure if I can get at least three other people and another driver the Hostel will only be like ~$115.00 per person for six nights which is pretty amazing; plus figure +$240.00 for lift tickets, ~$50.00 for gas and ~$80.00 for food per person and you have a six day ski trip for ~500 bucks which is pretty amazing when you think about it, especially for somewhere like Jackson Hole, definitely the best in-bounds skiing in the continental U.S in my opinion. Anyways yeah let me know who might be interested and we can go from there,
Peace,
