skiing for the right reason

sponsership is cool and all, and ive got friends that have got some corporate sponsers.... i was always under the impression that being sponsered meant promoting your sport and getting money and free swag was part of the deal...it seems now though that lots of kids are trying to get better at our sport because of the cash...is this selling out? i just dont want our sport to become commercialized like snowboarding has...i think the one thing that separates us from the snowboarders in a buisness aspect is most skiers that are true to the sports wouldnt do something in order to get money and make the sport look bad...i mean look at mosely's game...it fucking sucked and it will probably be years before another company tries to make a platform ski game... im not trying to hate on anbody, i just dont want to see our sport get popular because of $$ to be made...

skiing = reality escape
For me, skiing is my way of forgetting lifes annoyances, and changing my mind for those hours i'm on the slopes. I ski to have fun, progress and see where i can push myself.

I think that kids these days want to be sponsered more because they are exposed to it more then kids were in the past. today all you see on tv is rich sport players getting all the woman and free stuff, who wouldnt want that. and for most kids on here skiing is there number one sport so they persue it like a profesion. i think that kids need to loss sight of this and ski for the love of the sport. i guess kids will just grow out of when they get older. its just a phase, we can all thank the media for this

but the local line rep, who wants to get me on lines but i dont really like the skis, asked me who this local bryan gallant was... i guess he keeps emailing the guy saying he has all these sponcers and that he should be sponcered by line and proceeded to say 'i hate that fucking kid'.. i have nothing against bryan.. ive never met him but that isnt what skiing is about, if your good enough to place in major comps or have enough style to me in movie's why not get a sponcer. but just to ski to get a sponcer isnt what its all about

i ski because i love it. It helps me escape, i can just get away from everthing. Even when i am racing, i am not competing. I dont have to think about anything. It is also pretty much the only thing im good at. yeah, being sponsored would be cool, and it would be great not having to buy stuff, but it just really isnt too important to me.

I ski because I want to get into the sport before it completely blows up. But I go skiing cuz it is so quiet in the mountains and my mind is peaceful and stuff... I dont know, it is kinda weird.

i see sponsorships pushing the sport more and more, its making kids raise the bar every day they go skiing, they push it because they want a sponsor- good for the sport? yes, good for a skiing morale, maybe not- but the reality of it is, its pushing the sport. Of course there will always be the skiers out there pushing it, and ripping hard, simply because.....thats what they like to do, its all about how YOU want YOUR skiing experience to be-

which is exactly why small companies are important. if all we had were huge supercorporations then it would be so hard to get a legitament ski sponsor people would not push it as hard as they do. With all of these little companies popping up everyone with any kind of talent will have a chance to get sponsored. It has done wonders for the snowboarders, so sponsorship can only push skiing farther. NOW KEEP THE POSTS COMING.../

Im not saying snowboarding sucks, and I can snowboard, I actually started snowboarding. But compared to skiing i pretty much hate it, to me skiing is a much much more intense sport. And personally a lot more fun for me, I'm not knocking boarding here.

Everyone would want to be sponsored but if that's the only reason u ski then it will never happen. Just fuking ski and progress and u will get your break and the sponsors will come to you
