Sound System in the vehicle...

so im thinking about getting a sound system in my car (94 pathfinder).  Just cas i like working on my car and i think it would be dope to have a good system so...

I think im gunna get 2 12 in JBL one thousand watt subs ($119 each)

A multi channel JBL amplifier ( $185)

and a dual 12 in enclosure (box) for $80

oh and i have 8 in infinity speakers 2 back 2 front that came stock

so will my car bump hard with that set-up in it? or will that setup even work? i dont really know shit about car audio so im trying to find a legit source that can help me out

it will bump, but you get what you pay for....


that being said, make sure you get a high end wiring kit it makes alot of difference

You could bump hard with just one of those subs. I have 2 12" 800 watt subs in my car and the level is like 40-50% and it bumps haaard.

I got a JL dub 7 in a trucl.  Its sick.  Get one 12 and it would be louder then the two.

with as much room as your pathfinder has in the "trunk" it will hit hard but like said above don't get some shitty wiring kit and just make sure everything is hooked up right. and for the first week and half leave your amp on 40-50% just to let the sub get worked in then bump that shit dawg

I want to get a bad ass system going in my car.  Its an '86 bonneville so you know if it was loud people would think I am black.  haha but in reality it would be really cool.

basically sounds like your installing a subwoffer, not a sound system. and if you dont know anytihng abotu car audio, you might want to let someone who does help you out. and for your money, just go with a pre-enclosed sub. the JBL GTO1200BP-2 is a sweet dual 12in bandpass box that sounds pretty sweet and good for those reall low bass hits. also, you might want to throw a capacitor or two in there as well.

Are you just trying to listen to loud ass music or do you want people to hear you coming from 6 miles away? It will be very nice but it will probably not get like stupidly fucking loud. I have a single Alpine Type-R 12 inch and it gets plenty loud for my use.

Also make sure your amp is gonna be pushing at least near the rated RMS power  of your subs. Shitty amps advertise more power than they actually push. And you might need a new head unit if you dont have one yet.

yeah 1000 watt amps for 100 bucks are gonna be shitty
rockford fosgate makes expenisive amps but they are some of the nicest quality you can get
id def recommend one if you want loud quality bass

Usually good amps are sold  $1 per amp... that means a 600 watt amp will cost you $600.

My dad used to have a 95 pathfinder. That was one of the most awesome cars, but then some granny pulled out in front of my brother when he was driving it, and she totaled both of their cars. I really have no advice for you, i just wanted to tell you that story.

a capacitor is basicaly a temprary battery that takes its charge form the battery. you put it between the amp and the battery, and it prevents the amp drom draining to much from the battery on really big hits that would otherwise dim your headlights. unluss your using an indipendent 12v system connected straight top the alternator.

What amp were you planning on getting to power your sub? I didn't see it. Was that the multichannel?

If you want your system to sound really good, you'll need to upgrade all of your component speakers and amp them with a 4 channel amp. You said the subs were 1000 watts, but that really means nothing. When you are looking at audio equipment, you need to check the RMS output of the amp and subs, not the max wattage. What is the RMS of the subs? They should sound pretty sick, I know that JBL makes some nice stuff. Another thing that is really important is to make sure you have a good enough amp for your subs, it makes an incredibly huge difference.

For two 12" at that power level you'll probably need a pretty low gauge wire kit, if you use too small of guage wires then you'll lose power and signal between amp/sub/battery etc. If you do decide to go with upgraded components, a 4-channel amp and 2 12"s amped you might want to consider an extra battery and cap in your trunk too.

yeah the amp is a multi channel

it all depends on how much money i can get for christmas and if i can get a job before i start working...because if i have more money ill buy better stuff i just need more money lol
