I've been told that no you can not remove the demo plate. Some people say it's a bid deal, other's say it they ski them and it doesn't matter. But no matter what, demo bindings are gonna add extra weight and i height lift.

the toe piece can be removed, but the heel piece cannot. so you cannot change a demo binding into a regular binding

You're not supposed to, but you can. the difference is the plates under the toe pieces with the little slider thing. if you order a pair of normal toe plates, which was only $20 at the ski shop down the road, you can use them and it will work. A ski shop wont do it, though, my skis luckily had the right holes already drilled. also, the rear plate has three holes instead of six, so you have to drill two new holes. and you need a short screw kit with two extra screws. it was comlicated, but i got a nice pair of bindings that can be easily adjusted and are not a foot off the ski for way cheaper than if i had just just bought normal bindings.
