A little christmas spirit

So here is the deal. I work in the ER and took care of a 15 year old girl two nights ago who got in a really bad car wreck and is now a quadriplegic (paralyzed neck down for the rest of her life). I was working with her and her mom all night long. Her mom is a single mother and has hardly enough money to pay the bills let alone pay for christmas. i am not usually the kind of person who will feel bad enough for a patient to get personally involved, but for some reason this case is different. Anyway, in talking to her mom I found out that she was going to buy her daughter an iPod nano for christmas because her daughter had been wanting one for forever, but now is not going to be able to because of the medical bills from the wreck. So this is where I turn to NS for help. If any of you have a iPod that is still in working condition and looks good (I dont want to be giving her a piece of shit with stickers all over it) and are willing to donate it to a good cause, please let me know. Just think if you were in such a shitty position right before christmas.... it just sucks. Anyway, let me know.

thats really nice of you and who ever donates the Ipod, you should take pictures when shes given the ipod and send it to whom ever donated the ipod, it will make the donater feel really happy to see the girl happy. win win situation

UPDATE: I am blown away with how generous NS is. In the past hour and a half I have gotten about a dozen messages with people willing to help out. MAD +++++++++++++++++Karma goes to sanders. He is going to hook her up with a sweet nano. Others deserving props for their generosty: Schoening, Altapilgrim4973, bigeasy3223, pho[tog]rapher, and others. I am sure that I am forgetting others who have offered up help. Keep up the good work guys. I am once again a true NS believer. For the record, sanders is the new NS santa.

Never said it was, just a thought. How about people do soemthing nice all year round for once. During christmas time people do some nice deed like give up an ipod and think there special. After christmas is over people just go right back to being douche bags about stuff. Christmas is a joke.

FUCK NO. this girl was just in a car accident that left her body pretty much useless- a bad car crash is traumatic enough, now imagine waking up after one and not even being able to FEEL your body, let alone move it- her single mother is barely able to support them as it is, and all this girl wants is an iPod Nano- the absolute smallest and least expensive iPod with a screen that's made- and you want to propose that he's giving it to her so he can feel better about himself?

great job Utahpowderskier and Sanders- i look forward to hearing how things go. not to sound cliche, but there are so many morally disgusting, selfish, and thoughtless things that go on around us that it's refreshing and relieving to see people go out of their way to help someone they don't even know. as young adults, it isn't as though, most of us have a large expendible income, and what we do have we often spend on ski shit, so it's great to see you guys going out of your way, both with your time and money, to help this girl have a Christmas despite her terrible circumstances.

good looking out man, i would have done the same thing. i also sometimes work at the ER just to help out and i def know how you feel. let us know if theres anything else we can do for this girl, like a group donation or something for their Christmas dinner?

She is going to start using a little device that has a little bite block in it so she can put it in her mouth and it has a rubber/plastic tip on the end so she can press buttons and stuff like that. For quite a while her mom is going to have to do everything for her. But her mom says that she is super into reading so I am going to try and find a bunch of books on tape that I can load onto it for her. I would think the boredom and complete dependance would be the worst things about the whole situation. Hopefully that will help pass some time.

Mad hate on here, but I deserved it. props for giving up the ipod. Solid deed. I dunno. If your going to donate stuff for the right reasons then fine. I know boat loads of people who donate a dollar to the salvation army at christmas time so that they dont feel bad about the poor and the suffering out there. Its there way to say "i did my part world, no YOU do yours", and for 12 months they dont do jack all because they donate to charity. I'll admit even my mom can be a llittle like that sometimes (mind you she is probobly more generous then most people). And who knows how rich this ipod guy is. Maybe he has a chalet at 4 different ski resorts accorss the world and his mom buys him any ipod he wants. Maybe just MAYBE, this is his $1 for the year type of deal. Who the fuck knows. If you earned hard for that ipod and you are actually helping out to help her, and not yourself, then props. But ya, maybe im just ranting about christmas now. The one day holiday that has turned into a 1 month do a good deed and spend 3 months worth of money on. Sounds like fun !

No hate. Its cool. Just dont rip on someone when they are trying to do a good thing. And so what if he was super rich? It still means that he is giving and only he knows the reasons for doing so. i just think that its sick that there were so many people that were willing to help. That alone tells me that people dont need to do things just because of christmas. After this, I am confident that if I were in the same situation as this girl that there would be plenty of people to back me up, no matter what time of the year.
