What constitutes a ski day?

i have been in long and often times heated debates about what constitutes a ski day. I have one friend who is a race coach that figures if he straps on his boards for a setting of the course run and that is it then he has successfully skied and marks it down. Others say such things as a minimum of 5 runs, or 10 runs or some other arbitrary though usually whole number (never heard a 7.5 runs counts).
I consider any time a ski a run, whether it be in my back yard on the rail set-up, down some hills in an urban decent adventure or at the actual mountain. Rail jams sure as hell are ski days in my books even if it is just a little in-run and landing pad. it is still ski oriented and takes a lot of work (especially during the 45 minutes jams).
what do you consider to be a ski day? when do you mark one down?

Our rule of thumb has always been 5 runs

hmmm, the only problem i have with the 'x' number of runs idea is that a run at blue mountain would be 5 runs at chicopee. and a run at whistler would be five runs of blue mountain. If we go with a five run thing then I would have to count my back yard rail, even though 5 of those runs would not even equal a chicopee run (i would need at least 7 to accomplish that).
so one run on my rail would be 1/175 of a run at whislter but would still be considered a run as it is all i have to deal with....

I figure as long as you felt you had a fun day on your skis, whether or not you did one run or thirty...it is still a ski day. The only people who keep close track of their ski days, like measure them and such with rules...need to get out more.
It is all good and better than a day without skiing.

i like your thinking with the fun counts no matter what. i am trying to get some rules down as i have not much else to do other than ski, and you can only ski soo much in a year...i am already on a good pace but need to make sure there is no cheating going on when the end of year tallies come up between my friends and i. there is alot at stake here and i don't want to lose another season to Bacon, he does not let that shit slide.
