9-5ers (actually 9-7 or 8ers is more like it) :

who feels like peter gibbons more and more???

every day i wake up and sit in front of a goddamn computer screen wondering how this can be all that there is.  every day i wonder what it would be like if i was ski bumming it, living with roommates, living with much much less money and maybe even paycheck to paycheck, but actually enjoying myself.   sometimes i even consider enlisting.  not because i feel any obligatory service or i agree with the iraq war (because i don't) but just because i want a change in my fucking life. 

i just want to pick up everything and leave.  every weekday is the same.  every weeknight is the same (drinking, smoking, bars).

i just want to have that feeling of not knowing what is next.

yes..but i know it is only limited to ski season where i work in a ski shop (I'm in the southern hemisphere), and it shoudl only happen for another year and then i'll graduate and get out into something i actually WANT to do

to those young'ins who are still in highschool and whatnot:

do something you want, because in the end that's all that matters.  i've always wanted to travel and in the near future i want to just pick up and leave without any warning or hesitation.  i just hope i have the balls.

You should try doing yoga or getting involved in a side project. Take something you love and try to help that industry, sport, or artform move forward. If you were to watch Old School, you may get the idea to start a non-exclusive fraternity. Or maybe you could buy a camera and start experimenting with photography, or start working out, heavily. Whatever you do, be sure to challenge yourself on a daily basis, never settle for second best, and never stop believing in your limitless capabilities.

i would suggest getting involved in something, probably not drinking or partying that much. do something you can spend a lot of time on, while still doing your work.

^ yea, i don't know if you guys work an office job mon-fri, but it's not something you can solve by doing yoga.

at least for me...

all i know is that i'm not doing this for fucking 35 years and working my way up some ridiculous rat race corporate ladder, however emo / rebel / crybaby that that sounds.  it's not for me, and i'm gonna find a way out one way or another.

but in a sense you're right.  i know now.  i'm going 6 months more.  gonna get some cash, then gonna submit my two weeks, and GTFO.  i don't know where i'm going to go, and it's probably fucking retarded and i know quinny and JD are gonna come in here and try to chastise me and bitch and the whole 9 yards but whatever, i don't really care.

in 6 months, i'll be bumping this thread.  6 months from this date, i'll be on my way to somewhere else, and i'll let you guys know.

You gotta just be stoked on what you have goin on man.  If work sucks than make it better.  Try and fuck some girls that work with you or something.  Just start fuckin around a lot.  Take long ass breaks. Go smoke some bowls and come back to work.  Photoshop some pics of people you work performing sexual acts and leave them lying around.  Miss work, no call no show and than come in like nothing happened and you don' t know what they are talking about.  Or just get a new job.

Certified trade papers for chef in canada, so money isn't amazing, but it's more than enough to live on. I work 60 hour work weeks and haven't seen a weekend off in years, but I have fun at my job and I have time to ski every weekday morning.. no crowds. I sure as hell don't hate my life so I think I'm in a better boat right now than you are.

This man is absolutely right.  If you work at A Basin for a seaon you will never want to live in a ski town again.  Working as a lifty, making shit money, while having your coworkers have the same argument every day about which String Cheese show, February 18, 1994 or July 16, 1997 was more epic.  You work for Vail Resorts hippies, does you see the irony?

I'm in college right now, and not knowing what I want to do once I get out, I am not following your route. I'm going skiing, and I don't think it's until you really enjoy the things you are doing that you will find out what's right for you in life. If after a year of skibumming, I'm tired of it and want to go back to school, so be it, but don't waste your time in a cubicle.

for some people, you could still go to college and just sorta do nothing. theres huge parties everywhere and you can just smoke and drink you want. i'd try it for one year just to fuck around if you don't mind wasting your parents money, or yours.

well if you live near a good party school, there ya go. i buddy was telling me last year, this kid just sorta moved into these kids dormroom. he just slept on the futon. he took peoples ids to eat at the dining hall. it was like free living and eating. he also just went to random classes and learned something or other. and bummed booze and fucked mad bitches. haha. maybe thats better.
