Ok so i accidently ordered these bindings...

so i ordered a pair of line chronics today and just picked out a cheap pair of binding that looked fine in the picture and didnt say junior in the title.

so i call in my order to als ski barn. guys cool gets my order all done. but neither him nor i caught the fact that the description of the bindings say... "This binding is designed for high performance Junior skiers".

now im 6 feet tall, about 160 pounds.  am i fucked using these bindings and do i need to call tomorrow and have my order changed or wat? any chance theyll be fine? and i asked them to adjust them to a pair of boots i also ordered so if theres a problem hopefully theyll catch it while adjusting them

dude defintly wont be fine ur weight is way more that any junior bindings can support. but that not a bad thing call back and get em to change it and it they dont refuse the payment on ur credit card and they will have to do it

how hard do you ride...if youre only 160...thats the limit i would say...but if youre hucking it, you may wann get something with a din higher than 10

I wouldn't try it. You're clearly not a junior and given the binding description should be using a solid binding. Shoot for the LOOK p18, they're bomb proof.

they probably aren't a bad binding (construction-wise), but as with most junior bindings, they often aren't designed to take a boot as big as yours, and with your height i'll assume you ahve fairly big feet..

In that regard, the toe/heel may not respond the way they should, and your boot may not sit in the bindings properly, irrespective of the binding quality..

This is all straight out of my head, and not necessarily fact, but personally, i would look at getting an adult binding

get at least a 14 din binding.... 12 at minumum but you will evntually need a 14 din one at your weight

any shop chart would put him at a DIN of 8 or under at his weight assuming a level 3 skier code.

so no, he doesn't NEED at least a 14 din binding

if you are a beginner and ski mostly park then you should be ok if you crank them to the top notch, but if you are intermediate and ski hard then you should probably switch them up

^^ unless you adhere to the your din should be half of the max rule thing.  Aka if you ride din 7 you need a 14 max, but then why do they go so high? it is a mystery

thats pretty much redundant now - these days, most bindings are tested to be able to function at any level on the DIN range

in saying that, it's not good to run a 12 din binding at 12 forever, the spring could be put under undue stress

^ haha yea touche....but as for this post...no you cant use them..the din OBVIOUSLY doesnt go high enough...but if you are in the northeast region come to Alpin Haus (www.alpinhaus.com) i work there and we got some decent deals on bindings...$79 for marker free titanium 12.0's

the DIN OBVIOUSLY goes to 10, and he OBVIOUSLY needs a DIN of around 8..therefore the DIn is fine.

the din isn't the issue, its the type of binding and the size/weight/boot size that the binding is designed for.

switch them im i weigh 135 and have my din at 9. I know its too high but the skis pop out perfectly at it, but there px12's so they kind of suck.
So you should change them incase you have to set a higher din for any reason.

i'm gunna laugh at all you asshats when you tear your acl's to shreds with your din up at 11 and 12, that shit isn't necessary, you're not fucking bode miller, i'm 160 and i leave my din at 8 and they don't release when they shouldn't bunch a bandwagon having mother fuckers, the size of your penis is not proportionate to your DIN so chill the fuck out turn it down a notch and play it safe, trust me being on crutches for 8 months is NOT fun

oh and change them cuse they aren't designed for a larger sized boot, you can have issues with toe height and forward pressure and shit, and then they will pre release no matter what your DIN is at

trade the bindings in, but dont do it because of the din, thats fine, do it because of the boot size

I don't know.. I'm 5'8'' 130 and I'm pretty sure mine are set at 7 right now (by the shop). they go up to 14 just because that's the binding the shop had at the time and they were okay priced. it's really best not to have it too close to the max din anyway. if it's 10 max and he's at an 8 or possibly more then he should really consider a better binding. it's not about where it can go really, the spring inside will just get worn out more easily if it's in the higher range. I hope that made sense.. I just got back from school and my brain is tired.

A din of 8 would be absolutely fine on 3-10 din bindings..thats not why he should be changing the binding though.

Its a junior model, and in many ways that binding won't be set up to accommodate a boot that size. Thats why he should change it.

today i called als skibarn to trade the bindings and they say they recommend those bindings and that they have a sponsored rider who weighs 210 who uses those.  and that was when i was trying to spend more money with them, so i trust them.

You will be more than fine on the S910 binding. We have a guy here that is
210lbs and is on the 910 FIS. The highest you will ever DIN out at is 7 and
that binding goes up to a 10.

This is copy/paste straight from the 2007/8 Salomon Procedure Manual

"Salomon bindings that can be
used with both junior and adult norm
boot soles are: TZ5, S305, C305,
Q300, S300, their mini equivalents,
earlier model indemnified equivalents,
and their various counter parts.
(The added width of an adult norm
boot sole somewhat limits the shock
absorption capability of these models
and they should not be used with a
boot sole longer than 304 mm. As
a result, it is recommended that an
aggressive junior skier with an adult
norm boot sole use a model designed
exclusively for adult norm boots.)"

So SOME junior bindings CAN be used with adult boots, but even those which can be, if the BSL is over 304mm an adult binding should be used

I'll assume your BSL is more than 304mm.
If you have a size 10.5 shoe, the BSL is likely to be 315+.

I'm sure you will be fine on the junior binding, as it's definitely high-end as far as junior bindings go, but i still think an adult binding is a better option given your boot size
