So I just stepped up and bought a Canon HG10, which is sweet, but since it's consumer level it comes with this bullshit software bundle that is poop and pee. When I upload the files from the camera hd onto my computer they are in this fucking "InterVideo WinDVD Media File" (.M2TS) format, which doesn't play in Premier. I know (based on a notable review) there is a way to convert the file, but I am not that tech and can't figure it out...anyone know? Thanks!
So I'm using PremierPro and it only seems to want to capture from a DV source or analog, so that's out the window (or is it?).
As for just renaming the files to .mpg, when I import them into Premier they show up, but don't play. Do I need to change some shit up since these clips are huge HD files?
