ok so i stumbled on a Pentax P30t camera and it has a aftermarket or w/e lense on it, the lense says "Takumar-a Zoom 1:3.5~4.5 28-80mm" thats what it says if you are looking directly at the lense. Can anyone tell me anything about this camera im thinking about picking up some black and white film and shooting a few pics up at the mtn with it and i want to know if the quality is decent, my parents said it was expensive when they bought it but that doesnt necessarily mean anything

is it a fully manual camera?
cause if it is then they are great for learning lots about photography. since its manualy u have to learn how to set the proper exposure(speed of shutter) and apatrue(how much light is let in)
it will be harder for talking pictuers of skiing cause they are usally moving fast the the shutter might not be fast enough
ask your parents how to use it and go on the internet and look up some basic composition things for photography (eg, rule of thirds)
there isnt really a bad manual camera its just bad if u dont know how to use it

if it's free and your first film camera, then yes, it's a good learning tool. definitely keep it and read up on some basic photography rules. film is really good for learning the functions of a camera...i definitely respect people who use 35mm a bit more than photographers that've never touched it. just my two cents...

ya 35mm is good
its been around for ever like 40 years or somthing like that if u dont shoot digital u use 35mm baisiclly
its the film that everyone used b4 digital came around
if u learn to to use your camera then u can get better quailty pictuers than digital cameras

Actually no 35mm doesn't mean that its just a film camera. That would be the format. Dslr cameras are 35mm as well. There are 35mm, medium format, and large format.

i said "regular film", as in 35mm. this kid obviously isn't going to go out and buy a roll of kodak t-max 120 size.

no shit. I know what you were saying. I think you missed my point all together. What I was saying (for the 2nd time) was that DSLRs and regular SLRs are both 35mm format. 35mm doesn't just apply to film cameras.
All times are Eastern (-5)
