Whiteface accomodations

Jackrabbit Inn in Lake Placid is apparently cheap, if thats what you are looking for.

first you need to decide whether you want to stay in Lake Placid which is about 20 min from the mountain and has lots of lodging, restaurants, bars, stores, etc. or in Wilmington which is where the mountain is and has some lodging and maybe 4 or 5 restaurants. You can call the Lake Placid chamber of commerce and they will get you a reservation. We usually stay at the Prague Motor Inn which is quite reasonable- same prices as the econolodge. The Prague has kitchenettes in the room which is great to save money on meals. Nice clean rooms. We have also stayed at the Spruce Lodge which is a B & B which means no TV in the room and antiques but a decent breakfast and very reasonable and they also have a small apartment where you can cook. Both of those are in lake placid. If you don't feel like driving to the mountain, lake placid does run a shuttle bus. Wish I was going. Have a great time!
