CRYSTALMOUNTAIN, Wash. -- According to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office, three snowboarders are missing on Crystal Mountain.The
three men, two in their 20s and one in his early 30s, departed Friday
from the Crystal Mountain area and were due back Sunday at 10 p.m.The men are described as back country snowboarders and were prepared for two nights in the mountains.Due to multiple avalanches, whiteout conditions and floods, the search has been limited.The snowboarders are believed to be some place between Yakima and Pierce County.The men allegedly have an avalanche beacon with them, but the device is only good for about 50 yards.A plane was able to fly over the area the men are believed to be near but was unable to find them Tuesday afternoon.The search for the missing snowboarders is expected to resume Wednesday morning, depending on the weather.According to Ed Troyer with the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office, all three of the men are from Seattle.
