To whom it may concern at KOOL 108.
Today December 4th at approximately 4:30 PM I was listening to your radio station for the first time in a few months. Within 20 minutes of turning on your station I was subjected to your disc jockey’s opinions on current events. My problem is when the DJ stated, “This is not the fist time the President as been wrong about the Middle East”. This occured after a story about Iran and weapons of mass destruction. Now here is my problem, I listen to your station for the entertainment of music and NOT to hear political opinions spouted. I realize that this is America where everyone is entitled to his or her opinion, however I disagree when those opinions are shared in an environment where people turn on your radio station to hear music, not the host’s take on current events. If I was looking for political opinions I would turn on Rush Limbaugh or NPR!
I would also like to point out the error that your disc jockey made. George Bush is not the only person who said there are weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. The former President Bill Clinton said as much in 1998.
“If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program."
--President Bill Clinton, Feb. 17, 1998
President Bush’s opponent Sen. John F. Kerry also had an interesting opinion on the Middle East and WMD’S.
"I will be voting to give the President of the United States the authority to use force -- if necessary -- to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security."
-- Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Oct. 9, 2002
So my request to your fine station is, when your DJ’S make comments in the same nature of the one today that they also remember who also was “wrong” about the Middle East and remember to mention there names as well. Or refrain from political commentary.
I would like to take this time to thank you for reading this letter, and to let you know that you just lost a listener and all the advertising dollars that go with a listener.
Sincerely,
Justin
