need some skis that will last me as long as possible so in other words i am looking for the most durable ski out there. I have hear good things about these two skis but i am just looking for comments and if you know of any other durable skis.
salomon makes some beefy stuff, but their shit is kinda heavy, but p.e.s are pretty good too, dont shy away from them. I would make a decision on whats available to you and what your riding style is.
agreed, ptex topsheet on the pe's is nice too. oh, and the urethane sidewall that they stole from ride (k2 brand) is kinda sexy too, but its heavier than strapping two fat midgets onto your feet
pe's from 04-05 still go for a decent price on here. i'd definitely go with them or mojos. not too fond of the foam core of sollys and armadas get chipped to shit.
i have about 35-40 days on my spks. i use them for park only and lotss of rails. they have only 10 edge cracks total, no edge pullouts or deformations and no coreshots... pretty dang solid so far.
PEs are really durable, I've skied mine for 2 long seasons on rocks, rails, ice and park and there are some serious scratches on teh base and the top sheet is chipped to shit b/c its the 05/06 ones, but basically they are quite structurally sound. i think they would be more durable than Salomons because I've seen some older Salomons completely trashed and the 06 Thrusters with teh top sheet ripped off of one whole end. Volkl Karmas are supposed to be really durable. I demo'd them and they seemed really solid, plus they are a sick all mountain ski. This year I have heard of many volkls falling apart though, so i would look for last years. i haven't heard many bad things about Armada for durability, except the earlier Ar5s lost tehir edges pretty quick.
