Check out Jon's latest videoblog. Apparently he has a 50k bet that he can make the 2014 Olympic team in GS.

ha its definitely possible... it really depends on how committed to it he is- if he actually trains like a racer i dont doubt it could happen. it takes more commitment than a lot of people think though- theres a lot he did wrong in the runs shown, and he wasnt skiing on zamboni-style racecourse ice either. not to mention people coming up to world cup status are usually between 18-20, not 30. 30 is like a seasoned veteran ill-be-retiring-in-less-than-5-years age. racing puts huge amounts of stress on muscles used somewhat less in skiing nothing but park, and the chances of even a very good racer making a mistake and completely wrecking himself are pretty high. that being said, olsson is an amazing athlete either way and i could see him pulling it off. should be interesting to watch over the next few years.

Good grief, are you serious?
Do you have any idea how many athletes have DIED racing downhill? LOTS of downhillers have been killed on the World Cup circuit.
Tanner broke his ankles, Dumont broke his pelvis and had some internal injuries. Injuries like that are commonplace in racing. There are injuries that severe almost every weekend on the World Cup downhill circuit. Shit, when Brian Stemmle hit the netting in a downhill, he basically tore his leg completely off of his body.
You have absolutely no idea...

I 2nd that. I race and I had a bad crash last year that broke my binding and cracked my 2nd helmet. A few years before that I crashed goin 75mph down a double black, broke my helmet and ski. I've never seen a ski break like that. If I hadn't had the helmet it would have been my life. I didn't get up for a while.
