Boyne...park?

boyne is about 5 hours from me but i have friends that live close so a weekend or two is going to happen this year, do they have a decent set-up?  They dont have any pics online of their parks but they claim its the best in the area... so i dont know.  Is there a large "newschool" culture there?

Never liked boyne highlands  but I always though boyne Mountain was decent.

If you are by the highlands then just go to nubs anyways.

nubs has always had a great park scene. everyone there seemed to know how to ski, and if they didn't, they knew to stay out of the park. however, this year with the anti table stance, things may be a bit different.

neither boyne mountain nor nubs/highlands is by traverse city. both are about the same distance, which is about an hour and a half

But we'd be glad to have you up here in Marquette, The scene is sweet, the peeps are respectful and WE JUST GOT 36 inches of pow.
I had a legit powder day on SUN the 2nd of DEC

Ya I am up in Houghton and have had three pow days already.  It was all hiking but worth it.

Ripley has a whole bunch of stuff setup but if you make it to Marquette I don't see a reason to keep driving up here.

I was up there friday they dint have a park so me and some snowboarders set up a box and rainbow, to play on later there was a straight put in. As for jumps they have squat but there are some nice set ups that people have put together on the back side.

Yea man the company that owns boyne got their asses sued so I think thers no more jumps dont go there. Make the long trip and go to Mt. Bohemia, awesome Woods, pillows and small cliffs.

Why would he drive 8 hours more to Bohemia when it isn't even open right now and has absolutely no park elements?

Highlands "park" was the weakest thing I have ever seen. Nubs had some decent features set up on Thursday. I hate the first hit of the park, but the rail set is much better than boyne or highlands.

Was at boyne mt. today and their park sucked a fat dick.... save your money and go somewhere else

Dang its not even open yet? Huh I hadnt been up there yet, but he should go once its open because you can ski park at any place but the only good backcountry in the Mid west is up there.

yeah it sucks, theres nothing to do but ski steep, trees and drops, i want to slide a few rails and tiny jumps. They had to close it rained for a few days before xmas and there were rocks poking out everywhere, also they opened back up

Dude just stop posting. First of all The Mountain and Highlands are the smallest areas Boyne owns (Big Sky, Brighton Utah, Cypress BC, Sunday River Maine, Etc Etc).  Also they did not get sued, and thats not why they went flat this year. The reason they went flat this year is because so did Cabrafe, Crystal, and Nubs. They did it as a preventive measure, and as a deal with each other so that if one of them went flat they would not lose business to the others. The main influence in this decision was a recent settlement from Snoqualmie Pass in California where a terrain park accident paid off 22 million to a guy that got paralized from a jump. The bottom line is that insurance Lawyers do not like jumps.

Actually that's a load of bullshit. Nubs had a two booters and a pretty solid hip at the start of the park last time I rode it, so just because Boyne is throwing up all their tired ass rails doesn't mean the whole region is flat.

table top 'gap' style jumps are the ones being avoided by resorts, not all 'jumps'

Ok dude, first off all I dont get to ski there very much, the one time I did I noticed that there were no more tabletops. I asked a ski patol about it he said something about sueing, honestly I waasnt paying that much attention because frankly I didnt care, so I relayed the information I thought I knew. And I, as well as the ppl reading this thread, appreciate the posts that cleared up my foggy insight, I dont not however appreciate the asshole way you did it, thanks for the help.
