Now guitar hero is fun but things are getting out of control like what is this? Just learn to play a real instrument rather than wasting money on some stupid game

thats like saying halo is just for people that dont want to fight in intergalactic space battles and kill aliens because they dont have the skill or dedication.

so true i play guitar a little, i'm not very good but i am horrible at guitar hero.


it pisses me off when people who don't play guitar say things like "i just got 100% on freebird on expert i bet i could play it on real guitar!"
plus with the amount of time some people put into guitar hero or games like this they could easily learn a real instrument

amen, I'm playing the bass right now.

but I suck at guitar hero.  guitar hero 1 wrought havoc on my beach week.  basically before we went out, we would get delayed bc one person would be playing, and then everyone else would watch while waiting, and then everyone else would want a turn.  and then everyone would have to take a bong hit before we left.  so an hour later, we would finally head out the door.

i know a girl who plays that game religiously, if she put half the time she plays guitar hero into playing an actual guitar she could go to a decent university on a scholarship.

it depends on how easily satisfied you are

when I first picked up the bass, I learned to play this joint by slightly stoopid and it took me like half an hour to get it down good.  and I was very satisfied, in fact i had actually exceeded my expectations, because I played tenor sax in middle school, and its great playing a stringed instrument bc you dont have to get your mouth conditioned to hitting notes, and you don't run out of breath.  you cant just pick up the sax or trumpet and learn a song on first play.

Well, that's not completely true. Video games can greatly increase your hand eye coordination. There was also some study that surgeons who play video games make many less errors in surgery as well as perform the surgeries faster.

i didn't really want to get into this argument, but felt the need after your comment. The fact of the matter is that guitar hero is a different game then a game like NCAA football. Guitar hero is a simulation of a real instrument. Now im not saying that if you are good at Guitar Hero you will be good at guitar, but that fact is that it is a simulation, whereas your football game is essentially just mashing some buttons on a controller. If a game came out where you actually went through the motions of throwing the ball, running, kicking etc, then yes i would raise the question of why you are wasting so much time with a simulation and not actually playing football. There is a difference between the games you describe and therefore your argument is not valid in my opinion. You are comparing simulation to game, its the difference between having the money to buy a plane and playing Medal of Honor Air force and useing a flight simulator with yolk, control panel and pedals. If you use the first its a game, but when you use the second you are simulating the real thing when you could actually be able to perform the real activity. Now granted this is not the best analogy because flying a plane involves danger and depends on other factors, but i think it is easy to understand the just of what i am saying.

rock band is a ton of fun! and the drums are actually extremely accurate. besides not reading actual music of course. but the concept is exactly the same, it's like playing an electric drum set complete with a pedal. it's really hard actually, you definitely need some concept of rhythm.
as for me, i do play an instrument, so i'll keep playing rock band and i'll shake off any flak i get for it.

yeah i know people who are totally obsessed with that shit, i play guitar im ok, im also decent at guitar hero (medium i think thats pretty damn good for a kid who doesnt even have an x-box) and yeah its pointless but when youre at a party and theres a big screen tv and guitar hero its kind of fun to play a song or two over the course of the night

fuck all of you that say "just learn a real instrument."

Guitar hero is a GAME. It doesn't take years of practice to get good at. It doesn't cost as much. Its supposed to be fun. Its not supposed to teach you guitar, its supposed to be fun. You guys suck ass.

i play guitar hero and its pretty fun. It got me to even learn how to play real guitar. Thats what the creators of the game were aiming at. they used guitar hero to try to get kids interested in playing the real guitar

i agree here,

I play guitar and bass (im pretty good at both), and trumpet(not so good). It pisses me off when people act liek thier hot shit because they rock at guitar hero. I dont care if people play, but I know people who say that playing guitar hero is way cooler than playing guitar.

have you acctually heard anyone say that?  come on there's nobody that stupid out there.

I'm fucking epic at guitar hero but I know it's not a big deal. It's just a game.  I got 4 stars on through the fire and the flames on expert today, so what? But acctually to the people saying it's for people who don't have the talent to play a real guitar maybee you should acctually put some thought into that.  Of course hitting a button isn't like playing notes on a guitar but to be good at either you have to have rythm.

a friend of one of my friends is the guitarist in some band that has a song in i think the first guitar hero and he complains because he can only get like 98% on expert on the song he wrote.

Yeah man, its not that these people don't have talent to play guitar, its that they expect it to replace actually playing the real guitar. Alot of these people use it as a substitute for real guitar because its easier and they don't want to put in the effort. but it is true that guitarists can't play for shit. I can barely do hard songs.
