I just felt we needed a skibowl thread. Will it open this weekend?
You're right, it sucks, you don't want to go there.
Well now the website says they are opening at 3pm on friday and says lower bowl open but not upper bowl. I hope that changes soon.
It was pretty fucking sweet this weekend. Saturday was nice early but real sketchy when the power was tracked out. But it just kept snowing. Sunday was much nicer and the conditions much more forgiving with the added base. Loathe my chump ass.
nope, and the website says closed til the 14th
They definitely do the snowcat. They had removed palmer from the list of lifts and added the snowcat blurb, but just recently they removed the blurb and put palmer back on the list, albeit closed, so that made me think that they might try to run the palmer again this year.
Regardless, we will be going up there Saturday morning.
it seems the blood sacrifices were accepted favorably.
Wow. Did you guys get snow in the valley recently? Is Sunrise opening cyclone? I can't believe there is no Arizona regional forum.
There will be burnt offerings on the altar of Ullr today.
Skibowl on Christmas Eve was the sickets yet. I'm sure you listened to the message the Party Marmot left you. We did exaggerate, we never got on the hill again because it was mostly white out. The marmot hit Scotty's way while I ran Accelerator first time up. It was 8 inches on a crust, wasn't that fun. So we decided to hit the other side of the bowl. The West Wall was crazy steep and deep, I think the marmot said something about the best run of his life. Did that a few times, then we traversed all the way across the top of the West Wall to the bottom part of Bob Strand's towards Powder Keg, where we had first tracks and the best run of my life. (Yes, it turns out that that run we sorta have been calling Powder Keg is actually the bottom part of Bob Strand's downhill). The outback opened soon after and we hiked to the top of Tom Dick Peak for a run down the Western Boundary and Black Label Pitch. Then another run in the outback where we dropped in earlier for some amazingly creamy turns, hit Fistful of Willows, and then a little bit of some brutal/sketchy outback tree skiing while both of our goggles were fogging up badly.
There are no jongs on NS ;)
