I'm an american looking for a good school for fine art photography and/or film making in the Vancouver BC area. If anyone has heard good things about certain schools or have attended... please let me know.
I'm also need to figure out how to live and work in Canada and how that works with immigration.
thanks.

Unfortunately Mr. Protagonist, there are very few such institutions here in Mr. Lee's Greater Hong Kong. You may have better luck in the metaverse.

Brooks Institute of Photography is in Santa Barbara, CA. Besides being in BC, why are you looking outside the US? There are a number of good schools in the States.
I'm a 3rd year Photojournalism student at Rochester Institute of Technology, which is a pretty sick school, although it does suck for skiing. I think Brooks is within driving distance of Mammoth though, correct me if I'm wrong.

Calgary's decently close to the mountains and theres a few options, Alberta College of art and Design if you're more into the artistic side of it (be prepared to not have a life though), you can go to U of C and do a bechelor of fine arts with a major in photography (not the best) or photojournalism at Southern alberta institute of technoloty, which i'm in. its an awesome program, but its a pretty heavy workload

Hey, I'm applying to RIT for photojournalism this year! Good to hear it's a sick school.
And not to be a dick, but I've heard so many shady things about Brooks. I'd suggest not even waste your time checking it out.

Yeah... not too into Brooks. And I'm also pretty interested in film making. So perhaps a film making school in Vancouver?
I just feel like I need to get out of America... Plus Whistler.

I have heard from people out here that over the past 5-10 years Brooks has gone downhill, but I'm not really sure as I never looked into going there myself, beyond the info packet they sent me and their reputation.
I wouldn't rule it out; I'd just recommend being cautious.
