I've taken a liking to Frank Zappa and the B-52's lately, and I've realized how awesome slightly odd music such as this is, what's some other stuff I should check out?

I like Zappa and the B-52s a lot. Check out bands like Man Man, Animal Collective, and Au...they really aren't that similar to what you said, but if you like newer "indie" quirky stuff, you might enjoy.

try and find "Flo and Eddie" if you can. you might only be able to find it on vinyl.
