Marker Duke

Has anybody skied on these yet?  I was thinking of getting some, but have a tendency to be hard on equipment.  Can anyone comment on the durability of the Dukes?   I am planning on using them on area 80% of the time and backcountry 20%.

I know markers rap has always been a pre-release issue, but they are the first major traditional binding company to forray into a randonee type setup.  I want to look at them before I buy, but no shops have gotten a hold of any in my area yet.

Well, this kid is just a retard who doesnt know what he is talking about, probably doesn't even know what a duke is, and likes to suck look and rossi's dick.

that said, I was able to play with them a little bit. They do seem pretty bomber, construction wise. There are some positive reviews out there, and some on tetongravity. This isn't the place to ask cause all the kids here will tell you to get p18.

i think durability was one of the primary factors marker looked at with the duke..it should be pretty comber

Thanks guys, I'll check out TGR.  Enzo, did you think weight was too much of an issue.  I've heard they're heavy even for a traditional binding?

i;ve got a little more of a detailed report on TGR but ill say a little here

skied them 2 days at alta, first time on them was baldy main chute. Its hard to talk about durability because ive only been on them twice but they "feel" more bomber then any look or rossi binding ive ever skied and ive broken a few pair. Everyone said they were heavy but i was suprised when i got them because they were not nearly as heavy as i thought they would be. I much rather would sacrifice a few ounces for durability.
As far as skiing them i cant even tell they are an AT binding.
I did end up going close to 50mph probably and skied some of the Gnarliest Hard pack crud coming out of the chute and they held strong
i just wish the riser in the back was higher for steeper skinning.

you would top out at 50 if you straightlined the entire chute, not the bottom of it. i bet you hit 25 if you straightlined ballroom

They felt about the same as a look px12 binding. thinking about it, the duke was mounted on katanas, and they felt lighter than my foils mounted with px12's.

Good Info.  Thanks again.  How about in Touring mode.  The piece that connects the toe to the heel looks a little iffy as far as during a kick turn, or in a wierd twisting fall.  Can anyone comment on that piece, or the durability of the binding in tour mode?

no real worries there, seems to be more bomber then the Freerides. I played around a little bit with kicking the skis in on hardpack and some icy stuff and the the binding was rigid enough to hold that edge without moving. I do wish that the lifter in the back would be higher for tour mode though. One thing that does scare me is that the plate that holds your heel in downhill mode is made out of plastic so i wonder how strong that really is. Ive had Heelpieces rip out of solomon Ti916. But i guess the only way to test that is to ride them hard and see if it holds for atleast a season

I have a set of Dukes mounted on Line Motherships and so far they kick ass. they are heavy fosho but i they seem rock solid. i have had (and broken) fritschis before and there is no comparison. the Duke is rock solid in ski mode, unlike
the fritschis that have a tendency to shake about. the only thing that can be a small pain in the
ass is that ice builds up in the bottom back plate while hiking and you have to make sure to get
it all off before you can lock into ski mode. but as far a durability goes i would say they are rock
solid, not the Markers from the past.

I wouldnt sudgest the dukes for anything but backcountry. Mine broke apart first run on my local hill and I was just going down a groomer. However mine may have been a faulty pair or somthing and there mounted on a very wide ski. The brake, base plate, toe release plate and the middle conection piece broke (not all on the same side). But I have a warrantied pair right now however I havent been able to ride them due to lack of powder...

I have Barons on my JJs and I love them. They were a little bit lighter then the Duke, and a bit cheaper, however they have less metal in them which makes me think they're not as durable.
