Ski choice?

hey you guys probaly hate these threads but im stuck. i ski mostly tremblant and have a annual trip out west for a week. my style is all mountain but more powder and big air influenced than anything (not in the park that much). i went to my local shop and i was set on the K2 Seth's cuz i heard they were so veristile this year from the pow they're made for, even to some groomers? but when i talked the pro he told me it would be a bad buy. so now im stuck. im feeling the line chronics and blends but i need some help. please fill me in! peace

dude u ski east cost powder u dont need seths get something a little smaller like in the waist so go for something smaller the public enmeys rnt bad or some dynastarys troubles or the rosi ghettos and for ur trip out west either rent or ski thoese

i ski east coast shit too, in my opinion, the PEs have a good enough waist to float in the powder we get, and theyre a super durable versatile ski, mount them -1 or -2 cms back and ur good for big airs

no mount em center it wont make a difference on ur powder days mount em center to be good in the park they will be sick

I skied the new Seth's on sheet ice for most of this season at my local mountain in Australia and they perform pretty well for a fatter ski. Maybe a bit sketch at high speeds if you're heavier as the tips flap a bit but seriously you can pretty much ski well on anything if you give it enough time. I would also suggest you look into the 4frnt MSP, as while they're narrower they're also a lot stiffer than the Seth and the hard snow performance is awesome, though you'll sacrifice a bit in powder. To be honest I'm a big fan of fatter skis on hardpack as I like the stability, I don't believe you have to have a skinnier ski for ice/hardpack, it's not really necessary if you know how to ski and are comfortable on those surfaces.
The bottom line is that you can for sure use the Seth's in the East. After adjusting I don't think you'll have too many problems.

The seths would be good  center but personally if you are willing to try something I would go with Icelantic Pilgrams. They have a sick graphic it is an up and coming company out of co and they are hand made. I know that you can get them at EMS but it isn't the place I would support I would order them from there site (something like icelanticboards.com) they have a 90 underfoot which is perfect for east and pow out west. the only downside is the biggest size of the pilgram is 169. depending on your size they could be perfect. i would try them if i could buy them. you could probably demo them. Tons of info on there site

dude the icelantic is a great ski not on hardpack becuae there is not a very prgressice side cut but its personal prefrence bro if u want big air and such u should probaly get into park espicall living on the east on days where all there is hard pack and ice its better to really get into park

Im gonna give a second vote to the 4frnt msp, they're real stable on the groomers and fun to just rip around but at 92 underfoot still float in some pow, great all around ski

DONT get the ARV, they're way too soft for hard pack if you're a hard skier/weigh more than a chicken-legged 13 year old. I think of that list you should go with the Seth. I'm also going to suggest the MSP again, and also throw in the Volkl Bridge. Both those skis are a lot better (more lively) than the PE and also wider, and I think you'd have a lot of fun with them. If you want something wider however, go with the Seth. I'm pretty impressed with mine and ski them everywhere all the time.

i agrre that the seth could work. i am actually thinking about those too for next year.

so id say:
- seth
- pe    i have them and they are great in the ec pow. and float in man made snow really well
- ar6s would be just as if not sicker than the PE. just got them and from what ive heard they are good in pow, and def sick for all mtn.
- MSP. i dont know much about these but i would imagine that they are a cross between the ar6 and seth
-arv. probably something like the MSP

It sounds like you want the Seths, get em!!! I'd totally get them if I were you. They're really not that fat, and like someone said above, it'll be perfectly fine on hardpack. I really wouldn't worry about what that shop guy told you, these sound like the perfect skis for what youre looking for.

Arv's would be good too.

I don't think you'd be nearly as happy on blends.

seths are legit but not for you if your on the east coast

LINE makes good quality shit yr after yr and iv owned the original chronics and the skogens
i demoed the chronic blends last yr and they were pretty good all around. i would assume that line kept it pretty much the same for this yr and just changed the name and the graphics...

never skiied armada and never will so i cant really help you there, but my friend had the 04/05 arvs and he liked em.

I have some 07 Seths(I think the 08's have a slight rocker) and ski the east coast.  They seems to like the ice a lot more then my PE's do.  I've wanted to get a pair of Seths ever since they came out, but I was nervous about them here in the east.  I don't regret buying them at all, they're an awesome ski.

I think the Blends would work great. Prophet 90s maybe too, but I think if you do ski park sometimes the Blend would work better for that and would still be great all mountain and in powder, because I'm pretty sure they are around teh same width of teh prophet 90s

Blends, AR6's, or prophet 90's would be perfect for you...You COULD work with the Seth's, but if you ski mostly in the east you're just making shit harder on yourself with a ski that wide, no need for anything over 90 underfoot out here......

I got a pair of last years Blends and I LOVED them.....arguably the best all around ski I've ever been on.
They just smash through crud, float in pow, you can still get em up on edge on ice/bulletproof, and they're durable as fuck.

I've never heard anyone say a bad word about that ski...so in my opinion, go with the blends....

dude get the blend.  iwas going to but than i saw that lines anthem was better for me.  more park you know.  yah but the blend is a good ski and is probably what i would get for an all around ski.  if you ski alot of pow and backcountry kickers also look at the Sir Fransis Bacon from line.  its pretty sick

I have last years seths and personally love them on hardpack but I'm in Colorado so we don't exactly get as icy as you east coasters do. Either the ARV or the Blend would be a better choice for the East I've skied both and enjoyed the ARV more. The blend will give you better edge grip on groomers but the ARV will probably float better for you. You'll be happy with either man.
