What's The deal with flashyJackets & pants?

yeah whats the deal with that. The flashier you look the more easily you'll be caught ducking ropes, and the stupider you'll look when you fall. The gear is generally more expensive and offers less protection for the rider. It seems like an easy marketing trick to me.   I would rather pay 200$ for a jacket with 20,000 waterproofing and windproofing then a flashy one. Or are the flashy clothes just part of the freestyle subculture?

neon is ok if you like it.

no poles are ok if you like it.

and tight pants is ok if you like it.

But if see someone with tight neon clothing and no poles, I'm just gunna laugh.

i'm pretty fond of my logan 5 jacket.  it's cool and unless you're wearing white camo you're gonna be noticed on the mountain.  besides, it sounds like you spend too much time thinking about what you look like and not enough about how you ride.

i dont get how neon clothes arent as protective. i have a bright red suit which is extremely protective. if you dont like neon shit then shut up because everybodies heard it 1000 times and no longer cares.

you usually dont need to much protection from weather in the park , its usually no more than a 15 minute ride to the lodge, and i never seemed to get burried in to many avalanches after hitting a dfd either

I have an extremely high quality 20k/20k jacket and pants that are earth tones, for the cold days and powder and stuff.
Then I have a full antifreeze Oakley setup for the days when I just wanna fuck around and ride park and whatnot, or on spring days.

i have a neon pink jacket (say hi) and i like to think that if i ever got hurt or lost in the backcountry or w.ev people could spot me pretty easily

skiers who wear airblaster have tight clothes neon, and alot of the time dont use poles

i saw a fully decked out airblaster snowboarder yesterday, and i just hoped he could back it up with some tricks, im positive he coudnt though

seriously, who gives a crap what people wear?  wear whatever you want and go have fun skiing.

if NS was as concerned about skiing half as much as they are about poles vs no poles or skiiers wearing snowboarders outerwear, we'd have another couple tom wallisch on our hands!!

thats prettymuch an overgeneralization of what he's saying. basically (could be wrong on this one) he's saying that the brighter colored outerwear is typically made with less weather protection such as waterproofing and insulation. he's not saying that if there were two jackets of the same model, one in bright green, one in beige, that the beige one would have more protection. he's saying that the bright colors are generally on jackets with less protection.

the "flashy stuff i have has 10,000 waterproofing which is more than enough for me, plus i ski park 90% of the time so i dont need crazy protection.  i own a jacket with 20,000 waterproofing and i honestly cant tell a difference,  even in deep powder the 10,000 never gets wet.  some people are just big pussies i guess.
and bright neon clothes are so cool!
