I just have issues with a country which seriosuly considers labelling Iran's Revolutionary Guard as a terrorist organization.  How can the standing army of a nation, one which has not instituted any violence whatsoever be labelled a terrorist organization. The US Army has committed more terrorist acts than Iran's.

Its just another attempt at validation for invading Iran.

    When she refers to a collection of similar civilian abuse events coincidentally happening in a small amount of time as part of a fascist take over plan is ridiculous.  Yes, it's wrong that those things happened but that is the result some trigger happy people entrusted with authority and zero connection to some master plan to take over America.  Lets say a peaceful protest of 500 people against the war were in front of the white house.  The protest was then broken up by Blackwater mercs and people were injured or worse.  That would be something to be concerned about.
    Could civilian abuse be a beginning sign of fascist takeover?  Yes.  It's a fact.  It's called history.  But that happens on a larger scale.  The actual alarming things that she mentions that pose somewhat of an immediate threat should however concern all Americans.  It's not like a "hitler" figure, whoever it could be, will take power in the next 10 minutes.  I'm sorry to be the one to inform you, but if you are not concerned with some of the drastic changes and recent events that have been happening in our government over the last couple years you are an ignorant person.

i really dislike the things our government is doing, to us and to other nations, and i also strongly dislike most police officers, but there is no huge fascist takeover going on right now. we do have problems, but were not a totalitarian nation yet, we can still stop the hate that seems to be gripping our nation. bush and cheney have done horrible things, but they leave in 08. remember how things were with clinton. we can still get that back, but we have to be heard now!

That is true man. All American citizens should know everything that has been happening in the last few years about the government. Like that bill that was passed allowing the president to arrest anyone at anytime for any reason, or without reason.

alarmist nonsense or not, it's still worth looking at.  Your job should be looking into ways you can prove she is wrong.  If you can't do that, maybe it's time to raise an eyebrow.  Oh you don't feel like spending all that time looking into this?  Apathy, and the simple fact that you don't care because you are still being fed, is the biggest reason things like this happen.  Not going to lie, I want to get a passport, but they know contain chips in them that can pinpoint my location.  Not that cool.  Not that I have anything to hide or be worried about, but really, Do I need to be tracked?  I mean instead of not worrying about everything, maybe we should care just a little bit, and most definitely listen to both sides, not just write somebodies perspectives off as "liberal bullshit".  There has to be some truth in what they are saying.

I am not going to argue for or against Bush here, but look at hitler, note this is not a comparison between them on beliefs, but hitler is a good example.  Hitler was an idiot, he was selfish, and crazy, but charismatic, and he had a basic idea of what he wanted to do.  By being a charismatic leader, he was able to get people to belive him.  Look at your school principal.  They might be a complete moron but they are in control of you, and the school.  We can apply this stigma to any world leader if we think they are dumb, but somehow they convinced enough people that they are in power.

Sums it up well,  Sure, i think Bush is a shitty leader and has made a myriad of poor desicions, and i do not think he is a worthy president, but to say he is leadin a "fascist takeover" is absolutely rediculous.  If anything, with congress more assertively and effectively challenging him and with the supreme court striking down more and more acts and laws proposed by the bush administration, he has less power now than he did 5 years ago.

Now, there are factual pieces of paper, right now, that allow the American government to arrest you and throw you in jail, without a trail. For no reason. This is a FACT. A FACT. Not conspiracy bullshit. Now, WHY in any right mind would a government do this? Hmmm? To be able to throw suspected terrorists in jail just cause?

Here's another fact. There are thousands of people in the USA that ARE NOT allowed on airplanes. They are simply rejected at the airport. This is another SOLID fact that you CANNOT argue. It is factual. It is real. Why are innocent people that havent done SHIT to harm anyone, on this list?

There are American citizens that are thrown on this list, just for attending peace rallies. 

This is not supposed to happen in  democratic governments with  "FREEDOM OF SPEECH".

Why is this happening? Hmm? This is not argueable. You  cannot say this is not real. This is real. This is happening.

People in animal rights groups, are on the no fly list. Why animal rights?

Why would a government do this? For fun? There is obviously reasoning behind it.

Explain why, the government would do these things to it's own people, while saying it is trying to help the cause?

Now saying the purpose of homeland security is to spy on the American public, this can be true. BUT we cannot prove this. We can't.
But things like people being denied at airports all over the states, happens every day. It happens. It is real.

Now instead of just reading, and denying at first glance because it does sound pretty crazy, try and actually think about it. Go read news articles. Go think about it. Think about why? Ask yourself why? Why is the government doing these certain things? Why are their lies? Why? Think about all this before automatically shooting ideas down hard. Give it thought.

Now saying directly that "America is turning into a fascist power" is a pretty accusing sentence.

We can't say that it is true. We just can't say that. It's unprovable. It's one of those things that, the only way to actually find out, is if it happens.

So now, think of it from this retrospect. America isn't turning into a fascist power, it's just Bush and his administration messing things up. So why let your freedom of speech sit around and not actually be applied to the United States anymore?

What happens, if a year from now, after the election, the same issues are still floating around? What if there still is a no fly list? What if peace activists are still shown threw the media as enemies? What if you can't voice your own personal opinions about government?

This issue, is basically a bunch of "what ifs". And the only way to actually prove any of these issues, is to wait.

 That's the problem with trying to foresee problems. You cannot prove it until it actually happens. But once it actually happens, it is too late because it has already happened.

Now knowing this, and saying out of theory this whole fascist takeover idea is true.  It's simply unprovable. So in no way, even if it is true, will anyone be able to convince enough population majority to try and make change before it's too late.


And that's what it is. It's an unprovable, huge issue, that could be false but COULD (as in a chance) be true. And if it is true, it will be too hard to prevent it once it is too late. It's almost like a paradox of a problem.

PS. - Even if it isn't true, why sit around and let your rights for freedom of speech be abused anyway? They are your rights, if you want to keep them intact, FIGHT FOR THEM.

I agree^.  And even if all of the things this lady says are going to happen dont actually happen, our rights are still being abused severely.  The Patriot Act and Defense Authorization Act are scary as hell and people are either too blind or too ignorant to realize their ramifications.  Even though there isn't going to be a fascist takeover, I still find it unsettling that the president can violate basically any right of any U.S. citizen without any authorization or reason, all in the name of "freedom".  There is nothing free about that.
