Detuning with a gummi stone

How should I go about doing this? Should I just rub it up and down the skis edges so it's perpendicular with the edge (so at an angle)? I was thinking I should do this slightly on the tips/tails and pretty good underfoot.

rule #1, dont mistake a gummi stone for a gummi bear, its a horrible waste of precious yummy snacks.
ummm thats pretty much it. Just rub the stone up and down the edge untill you have your desired detune. if youre a jibber, detune alot, if not... then leave more edge.

a gumm stone wont do anything for detuneing the edges...get a file and run it at the tip and tails once or twice lightly at a 45 degree angle to the edge...

pretty sure a gummy stone will get rid of burrs and surface rust more than anything else, a file is what you need for detuning

yeah, gummy is best to put your skis back into caving shape. A cheep course bastard file works best for me.

Ive always used a detuning stone-not a gummy stone. The gummy stones work best to get the rust off edges, not detune them. Use a fine grit file or a detuning stone. I dont think a gummy stone will be very effective...

Ive detuned new skis on many things, it realyl doesnt matter what you do it on... AT ALL!! ive used a: file, a rail, my other ski edge, a light post, front of petes 93 Ford Ranger (sorry pete), a rock, pavement, cement curbs, my poles, lift poles, lift ladders, snow guns, and once i just held it up to the rope towe like a magic detuning rope (did a majestic job) it pretty much doesnt matter what you use... i hate tuned skis
