so the closest mountain to me is called Spring Mountain heres a map. i challenge you to find a hill shittier:

Top Elevation: 528' (one of the highest points in Montgomery County)
Vertical Drop: 420'
6 lifts (3 double chairs, 1 triple chair, 1 tubing, Magic Carpet© )
8 Trails and 2 tubing runs are served by 3 double chairlifts and 1 triple chairlift, as well as 1 tubing lift. The longest lift in 2,200 feet and unloads at an elevation of 528 feet.
Total lift capacity is 9,500 skiers per hour.

my god, i remeber leaning to ski there, it seemed so steep to start off....becasue they made us go down the main hill....which seemed really steep at the bigging, but hey you gotta start someowhere

Mountain in VT called Cochrans. ITs mad small but has turned out half a douzen pro ski racers.

as someone who grew up on a small, shitty mountain, there is a lot to be said for the desire of skiiers that ride those places. 

it is easy to get excited for the season when you have 150 days with actual snow (not man made), the opportunity to get dumped on with powder more than once every 5 years, and an actual skiing culture that is more than the polish racers that come up on saturday. 

the kids that skip class to ski a mtn with 300 vertical feet, get just as excited on the first lift ride of the season even though it takes longer to go up than it does to get down, those are the kids who really love skiing. 

how many of you who have grown up out west near the major ski areas could honestly say that you would love skiing as much if places like these were where you had to ski? 

if you can say that, i sincerely hope you never find yourself having to ride a place like these just to get your fix.

So true man.

My hill is 550' of vertical, with a season from mid-December to the beginning of April. We ski in horrible weather. It can be 50 and raining, or -15 and asbolutely frigid. Bulletproof ice, or 2 feet of lake effect powder. It doesn't matter what the conditions are, I will ski at every opportunity I get.

I've never been out west,(only one in my family that skis, and financially cannot do it on my own) and even the mountains of Vermont seem like huge playgrounds to me when I've skied there.

last year i worked at pine ridge, on. and they have one shitty double chair and one shittier t-bar. they both broke last year but at least there is no park to hike.

At this place, the parking lot was at the TOP of the mountain. You would ski down out of the parking lot and get on the lift at the bottom

^My hill has a parking lot at the top, it's small and VERY sketchy to get to if it's snowing heavily. The main parking lot that most people use is at the bottom.

birch HIll wins by far note the HILL in birch HILL. its got one chairlift and 3 runs with like 200 or 300 foot elvation diference

holiday mountain, what they dont show you is the highway running across the top of the mountain, they dont have any info on vertical on the website, but its tiny

also close to me is the villa roma ski area- 3 trails, 1 lift, fairly flat

yes this is a good mountain, but its pretty PATHETIC they wont be having jumps in their park this season

My local hill is a 100m hill, no lift. below the town office. so far we have a foot of snow and a total of 1 jump, the town took away our picnic table already. maybe we can "borrow" some rails from the skate board park. Yah it is not worth the space on the camera to take a picture.

haha i love that pic! cuz it looks like they have like 8 trails...when in reality they havnt opened more then 2 in a few years! tho they did get bought out and i heard they are supposed to be putting in more snow making equipment!! hehe ill believe it when i see it!

what it is saying by "snowmaking:100%" is that there is snow making on 100% of the mountain, not that all of there snow is made by machines

Sundown in Iowa - 475 ft vertical

The trail map makes this place look bigger than it is. The above picture is better. The parking lot is at the top and the mountain is actually built in what use to be a massive sink hole.

There is a cornfield bordering it on the right to give you an idea of how flat it is.
