Replying to Jea: A Success Story
So I was just looking through some album that came up on my news feed on facebook and there was a picture of some girl i dont even know flashing a gang symbol and the caption was, "Jea." At this moment I realize a great thing. The word jea has been popularized at my school and a hood or ghetto word, and it came to be solely because of Newschoolers. A couple of my friends and I started saying ti cause we saw it on Newschoolers, and soon some of our other friends started saying it and then a couple of their friends and before we knew it the entire football team was saying jea and playing Cam'ron on their warmup CDs. From here on out it spread like wildfire through our school, and now I even hear middle schoolers saying it. I'm slightly stunned witnessing and helping to develop a fad, even as basic as this, and it reminded me of how lingo hits VT months after it starts in the west or wherever. I've gone to Minnesota and heard lingo used there and then three months later it starts catching on somehow in Vermont. So I guess the weakly deduced moral of this story is that NS lingo = good lingo.
