im looking for a nice beginer camera. nothin to expensive.i was thinking sony handycam but dont kno what model.can anyone help. retailing around 300 bucks probably.

I hear Sony is pretty good. I have a Canon sd800 elph from last year, and I find it is great for taking skiing. very compact, 7.1 mp and plenty of features for a beginner. The sd800 retails around $5-600, but you can get lower models taht are basically the same, (but with less megapixels, like 5-6 or so, and without image stabilizer) for about your price range.

or panasonic gs series if you can find one for that much
