Just spoke to a few folks today....looks like the interior BC is fat around Revelstoke but think in the Kootenays. Mammoth CA has one run open and basically the Sierras are still pretty much dirt. Colorado and the ROckies are also still very thin with just a couple of high areas with some runs open with man-made ice.
Out west on the coast...Whistler is opening on the 17th with what looks like a pretty good base. BLackcomb the following weekend.
As for Europe, after a brutal year last year they are starting with a bang. Notoriously late winters there but this year, lots of early snow in many areas with openings all over this weekend.
So praise be to Ullr, the season has begun. Can't wait to get on some Goliath 184's. New boots, some new sticks, seasons pass in hand...life is good.
