Snowboard bindings

I posted this in the snowboard cult, but I didn't get much help there. Only two posts. I know this is a ski site! But I'm hoping some mature individuals who know a bit about snowboard bindings can give me some good recommendations:

I plan on trying to get a whole new set up this year. I already know which board and boots I want...but I just find it hard to think about what I want in a binding. The only thing that stands out to me, is that the plastic straps always break from the wear and tear, and cold. Strapping them on and off a million times a day.

I teach snowboarding full time, so I am out on the hill 5 days a week whether it be teaching or riding.

So, what do you guys look for in a binding, and do you have any recommendations for any strong & durable bindings?

No Burton.

im a skier so i dont really know, but my friend has used the cartels and the flow synches, and he says he loved them both... so i dont know if that will help, but there you go

My girlfriend put Ride Dva bindings on the board I got her for Christmas last year.  She loves them a lot more than her old bindings.  They seem to be quite a bit sturdier than any of the other bindings I have personally checked out.  But I've only been snowboarding a few times.  Tons of adjustment, "No-tool adjustment" on the toe and ankle straps.  Worth checking out, they retail at about $220.

check on flow bindings, my buddy rocks them and swears by them, they are wicked easy to put strap in... here is the website http://www.flow.com/

Why do you say no Burton?? they are easily one of, if not the sickest snowboarding company and just surpasses everyone in quality and performance.  Plus their prices have been dropping. still expensive though.

You've got to be joking. Burton hardgoods have gone down in quality IMO. I have gone through two pair of Burton bindings in the last year. Fuck that.

And thanks for the idea of Flows, but again, not what I'm looking for. Plus I haven't heard the greatest things about them. I am not a park rat, I am an all mountain girl.

Ha, ya I don't even ride them, just hook mad people up with Burton stuff.  Point is my friend reps Burton Boards and says good things, and I wear their outerwear and it hasn't disapointed.

I started with the women's Lexa's, then moved onto the Cartels. I guess I'm just too gnarly of a rider for them to hold up to my standards :P

I have burton C02s, not knock burton stuff if you stay in the low end. If you really dont want burton, flux bindings are pretty bad ass and I could prob hook you up with a deal on them. I def agree with you on the flows though, almost all the advanced riders I know cant stand em.

Burton makes a quality binding, their racket system is smoother and stronger than a lot of stuff out.  But i rock tech-nines

yeah, i  had lexas for two years and the toes straps on both bindings have each broken 3 times or more. Now i have k2 formulas...ive only ridden them once this year but so far so good =]

i used to snowboard and the best bindings are union, technine, and burton i also really liked rome but never used there bindings.
burton makes crappy boards and gloves but really nice bindings

salomon hands down makes the dopest snowboard binders.  i'm a tech at a shop and by far see the least salomon bindings compared to others (burton, ride, k2, flow, rossi, etc...) in for repairs.  they hold together really well and are by far the most comfortable.

Well it sounds like Salomon and Technine are some top choices between here and the cult. One binding that Worf had shown me, and also someone in this thread, are these Union bindings.

I have some Technine MFM's I've been using to teach snowboarding with. Never had any problems with them and you can't beat the baltimore toe strap.

I know you're knew, so some advice. Learn to read the WHOLE thread. I said NO Burton, that I already have Cartels, and that I'm looking into Union, Salomon and Technine. Thank you for your post though.

I have unions and they are super nice... and they replace them if you break them. I really like them if i were you i would get unions or romes.

oh yeah and if you get the cadets you may crack the baseplate but only if you deck super hard or somethign and they will send you a new pair.

i ride burton missions and atomics. the atomics held up for about a year and a half but they are trash now. for what you are saying flows would actually probably hold up quite nicely since they don't strap on and off every time

but rome makes some solid stuff. also try some raidens or some k2 cinches

steezy e is by buddy, but he doesn't really know a whole lot about snowboarding.

i forget exactly what its called, but K2 has a sweet one that uses only 1 rachet to tighten both buckles, its real simple, light, and strong, not something thats gonna brake.

other that those, the salomons are def. nice. rossis are pretty good as well. they have awesome instep straps.

brands not to get: ride, burton, flow, etc.

and to whoever was talking about burton being good, thier shit sucks. they are the worst boards per dollar. for the same money, you could get a way better board. all thier shit is gimmiky and breaks.

for the amount your riding i would say get some technines and if you still have the ratchets, switch them with the technine ratchets so you will have a super solid binding with way better ratchets then what come on the technines.

ive tried union, rome, and technine bindings. they are pretty much the top 3 players when it comes to bindings. the best out of the three is definately rome, god i wish i had a pair. they actually feel like your strapped in, the materials and everything are amazing, and theres a lifetime warranty. if u want indestructable get union bindings, but when it comes to feel rome is much better.

by the way i have union data's which are a step up from the union force. they are pretty good, and i got them cheap, but my friend's rome arsenals have a cheaper regular price than my datas and they feel so much better. if your looking at rome bindings, check out the arsenal (cheapest), then 390s (medium), then the targas (high). the ideal rome binding is the 390, but the arsenal is very similar and costs less.

so how come snowboard bindings are so damn expensive, theyre moulded chunks of plastic with little straps, but you can pay 250 or more for them. shit is a rip off

i rode with a pair of arsenals, i havent tried 390s, from what i read/heard from people is that the 390s are perfect

I ride hard and so does my buddy.  We both rode the Head PX5 last year and it is by far the sickest binding I've even ridden.  I adore it.  If you want a rotating high back, then go for the PX7... and the PX10 is dope as hell with a rotating highback and also adjustable highback stiffness.

I've heard top end ride bindings are excellent - a mate that works at my shop just copped a pair of Ride Alphas and thinks they are excellent compared to most other bindings he's used..

Everyone on this thread who said buy the cartels have no idea what they are talking about. I ride 60+ days a season and buy the end I replaced the strap 3 times and had countless issues. I would say look for a nice pair of flux's or maybe unions.  This year I got the salomon spks and they look like a really dependable binding with durable straps, and the toe strap never becomes fully unbuckled so you can slide it over your foot and strap in on the lift
