FINALLY

Yay, alta made alot last night too, their lower runs are all covered.

So are we on for wednesday to open???

for the time being yes...  that all depends on the weather.  it's been warm the last couple days again.  that front is supposed to move through sunday or monday and it's supposed to drop temps alot. 

shweeet.... ya i watched the weather this morning and according to the lady.......rain monday night but will most likely turn to snow. and snow tuesday. ......all i have to say is....pray.

The guns fired up this morning by 6am and have been blowing all day, it has warmed up during the day but once the sun goes over the ridge the snow will be flying, especially if the lows end up in the single digits tonight.  Only a few more days to go before you can strap your skis on at the resort...  more pictures tomorrow...

Allrighty, So I had a chat with the manager of snowmaking tonight.  It looks like payday should have enough snow on it by the end of the week, then the final push and groom.  So don't know exactly when it will open but that's the time frame.  After that they will be moving their guns to silver hollow and upper homerun.  Oh, treasure hollow is almost done with blowing snow.

I have had a few people ask why it takes so long to blow a run.  There are resorts around that blow just enough to cover the weeds and put features on it or let people ski it only to have dirt show up in a few days.  Here they like to totally blow a run so they don't have to come back to it all year, then open it.  It ends up saving alot of closure time on a run when the season gets underway to have it closed at the beginning of the season and blow it all.

And they have blown us enough snow on our area of homerun, we have been given permission to start building tomorrow when the resort closes.

And question about snowmaking.  Where does PC get their water?  I've not noticed a water source large enough to support all of the snowmaking that they do.  At home there was a huge lake, and a river that constantly pumped water into the lake.  (Indiana... 100% snowmaking... like 250 or so Super Pole Cats).  Sooo, does PC just buy water from someone, or is there a pond somewhere?

We get our water from the ponds at the golf course.  we can deplete those ponds in one day if we aren't careful with how we budget the water usage, but the ponds are fed by the mines so we have a constant inflow of water at I think just over or under 3000 gallons per minute.  I think just under.  I can't remember.  We keep updating the system with new polecats every year which cuts down on the electrical used for the air compressor for the portables.  The more turbines we can use the more we can cut down on that compressor.  That is the biggest expense from snowmaking I believe.  And I like the snow the turbines produce.  I just drove down homerun on a sled and went thru some very light and fluffy manmade off a tower.

Park opens tomorrow.

Why does the park have to open with like two weeks left in the semester?!? ahhhh im gonna fail college now.

ha ha ha,  a small park on homerun isn't worth failing college for mang.   ;)

It's still better than class though haha sooo much fun today.

Well, ya.  I'm a.d.d. when it comes to textbooks so being in the mountains is a nice non stressful area for me.
