Tech did not mount my trouble makers where i asked

I made it very clear i wanted these centered with the same ammount of tip as tail! i i talked to tech that mounted them and he said because of the metal mounting plate in them any farther forward than he did he might miss it?? also the reinforced edges that they come with would not be under my boot, which was the only reason that i didnt blow up when he told me that, what would you all do? anyone ski these center mounted?? i wouldnt be so fucken pissed if called me before instead of just goin and "mounting these as far forward as he dared."   he said if i still wanted he would remount them but these screws my resale value and i donno but im guessing it makes them weaker-more likely to snap.  how would you handle this?

First I would go ape-shit, then talk to the manager of the store. They should have to pay you for new skis.

i had the original ones centered and blew out all 4 edges i dont think it had anything to do with mounting positions probably more to due to with the fact that dynastar makes shitty edges

that is shitty, but maybe the reenforced edges that the 07s come with are suppost to not let that happen, but what i wanna know is how much weaker would my skis be if i did demand they get me new skis and get them center mounted? cause i guess they have a metal plate under where the skis are suppost to be mounted.  when you flex them in that area they are ridicously stiff

What you have is going to ski very differently than a true center ski (what you wanted).   For a mainly park stick, center mounting is heaps of fun-- so if you want to center mount, have the shop re-do it. They probably won't replace your skis with brand new ones, but they will do the remount free. You might be able to convince them to promise you compensation if the skis break due to their error -- i.e. snapping due to extra set of mounting holes. -- But you should be ok provided the patch work they do is water tight.

Im pretty sure they cant just decinde on there own to not listen to a customer and do what they thinks best without contacting the owner....Id def talk to the manager

I had my PEs remounted twice, and they haven't broken yet. They put patches in the topsheet, but that would suck ahving to put anotehr set of hole in ur brand new skis.

if you have some sort of proof that you asked for them mounted centre then go back and talk to the person at the top, they should at least give you some money back or replace the skis,

if no proof then you are in for an argument, your word against his, likely to loose i would have thought, but def worth a try

The only way I found to get what you want, is 1) you really SHOULD measure yourself. 2) When you get there, ask them to write in on the paper under the mounting point as +X, value you measured, and then say I'm not positive so if you could remeasure for true center that'd be great, but I'm pretty sure that's close. Whether they bother to remeasure or not, your skis somewhere near true at least by your calculations, or just ask online. Eitherway, make sure you talk to the tech not just one of the people who run the front desk, because then you say "i want center" many assume okay "0" for mounting point, whereas you need like +8.

Oh, and again, front desk people assume 0 does mean "true center." And yea this happen to me with my TMs too, they were still mad fun, but my first park ski so I didn't really mind much, whereas I'm sure your much more mad. Luckily my scratches got mounted perfectly, and in under 30mins last night.

Unlike some other threads, you've got a good case here. The tech is a complete idiot if he knew exactly what you wanted but did somethign different anyway. He should have called you first at the very least. The edge reinforcemtn thing is one point, and something I don't like about the TM's is that reinforcement location. As for the mounting plate, it isn't metal for one thing, it'll be reinforced fibreglass. Yeah the front toe screws might be off the front but I know a few guys who ski TMs centred or 1cm back with no problems. Armadas don't even have a mounting plate - do they rip out more than other skis...?

Go back and get them remounted for free and ask for a credit note for a full tuneup as compensation.

No - this tech is an idiot - ask to see the shop ticket, if there is proof that you wanted them true center, you have a good case.  I would be really pissed, what shop is it?

No, the tech is a dumbass.

It's bad enough that he didn't know ahead of time (which probably also indicates that he used the wrong bit,) but the fact that he drilled the skis and no metal shavings came out and he STILL told you that they had metal in them.........

hey, i work in a shop and everytime someone decides to be gay or screws up a ski they pay for it so you can definatly get your money back

Try to get a fresh pair or something, especially if somewhere it says explicitly you wanted it at true center.

If you have the green ones (06-07) a couple cm back isnt too bad (but i dont know about 3 inches), because the reinforced edge is a bit back (which was bad on their part, but somewhat rectified for the 08s). But riding them center is fun.

If you have '07-'08 ones, my my they are good center mounted (plus the reinforcement is further up the ski).

A remount really doesn't hurt much in terms of durability, but they definitely decrease any resale value if you ever try to sell them sometime down the road. So yea, if you were clear in the center mount request (and it sounds like you were) I would try for a reimbursed pair. if that doesn't work, perhaps a remount is in store, because 3" back is noticeable (imo)

i said i want to write it on the sheet about the mounting info(din chart and such) and they let me take my pen and i wrote very clearly what i wanted

try and get a new pair, and in the future take a sharpie or something and draw the line where you want them to be mounted on the top sheet. and tell them you don't care about the consequences of mounting center. write it down too.
