I was watchin Discovery channel and there was this show about the Earth's dependency on the moon. The moon is what keeps the Earth's axis aligned and spinning evenly. The moon is slowly leaving the Earth though. Once the moon is far enough away to break away from Earth's gravity, the Earth's axis will go to shit and will start spinning uncontrollably, destroying the possibility of life on Earth.
