Ski shops are cracking down it seems

What I don't understand is why they make such a specific park ski that isn't made to be mounted center. I mean seriously, they obviously know that most people are going to mount center so why not just make the ski that way? Stupid K2.

I don't know why i do, i just do. 

i think some of their team riders mount them at +12 and other people on ns mount theirs even further up.

I'm not even trying to follow the crowd.. I just prefer my tips and tails the same length if not really close. 

I respect the input of the ski shops don't get me wrong. 

oh yeah...and they said they might mount them if i got an attorney to have me sign papers saying i wont sue.  hahaha that made me giggle.

why not get symetrical skis? they're made for center mounting... but yeah i hear ya. really sucks when you know what you want and you cant get it.

just ask them to mount em "true center" or "wieghted center" they might think you wanna mount +10 from there but thatd just be stupid

you need to look at it this way as well, if you mount there were you say you want them mounted, you probably cant get them warrantied if something happens to them

don't they just make you signa  waiver, then they're good?

hahaha im stuck in VA for college and we've had a few pre-season jibs and railjams going on here and there...so the other week i went into richmond on the way to my gf's house in DC to drop my beatup old-ass AR5's off at this place to get them moved up to true center from where they were originally mounted, figuring it'd be easy to do and i could just grab them on my way home the next week...

first off, i left one of my boots back home by accident cause i had been waxing some of my other skis the week before, that was MY mistake. but after i cleared that shit up (which took forever, i had to talk to like 3 managers and techs and then sign a bunch of waivers) they still ffffffffreeeeeeeeaked out about mounting them true center because they werent designed for it. the guy was terrified that the structural integrity of the sidewall and edges had been compromised...i had to reassure him that if the edges blew out all over the place it would be my fault and not his, and that i in fact intended to blow them out by riding the hell out of them...the whole experience was still way more of a headache than it shouldve been though, and i cant wait until i move out west and get my own mounting setup

i'm about to say screw it and mount them myself...but for some reason I feell like that is a bad idea.  haha.

like a work bench and shit with a vice and whatnot so that i can be as precise as possible, i dont have any room for that shit in our tiny fucking apartment at school and i dont want to try and mount my shit in the living room trying to hold my skis down and drill into them free-handed...we barely have anyplace to set up and wax here, we have to make do with setting up two old chairs like a saw horse

are you talking about +10 from true center or core center because +10 from true center is absolutl rediculous

Dude, self mounting is very easy if you have the right bit for your drill. You dont even need a jig. I only mount my skis my self now, and rarely ever have the right jig, or a jig that will fit a fat ski. I feel much better doing it myself.

right on, i cant wait to get a place with a garage where i can do all my fucking maintenance work on my skis and make a huge mess and not have to worry about it 

haha +10 from the midsole... so it would be bout +3 or 4 from the core center... not true center. haha.

WHat kind of drill bit do you need? size?

Either a step down style bit or a regular bit with a stop on it.  Like this

The size depends on the screw width and length, but almost all bindings are mounted with the same sized bit.
