Does the tip on your left ski look similar to mine?  Someone said that the wood core should not be exposed here.  Can anyone confirm this?  I am gonna send an email to LINE regarding this and will let you know when I hear back from them.

It's exposed on mine, only the left ski.  The stripes at the bottom of the ski show the core too.  It's supposed to be like that and I think it's cool!

It's part of the graphic. If you look at the small version of the ski's graphic (right ski, bottom half) you'll see the map of California up the coast to Alaska. The full size one only fits Oregon, Washington and BC, but that top part is the NE corner of Alaska. So yes, it is supposed to be there.

Pretty much the sickest graphic ever also.

This is what LINE just sent me back,

"The skis are supposed to be like that so you can see the construction of the ski.  They are all that way.  If you look at the pic on the website you will notice that it has the wood showing."

Also just watched IDEA and when Pollard does that sick jib off the tree you can see the same part exposing the wood core, and in the bonus section it shows him making this prototype which also has the wood core showing through the topsheet.

myth BUSTED...hopefully

I went to Eric Pollard's art show (and Idea premier) in San Francisco back on the 1st of the month. There was no core showing on that ski... I have a picture of it.

Hmmmm... quandary...

There has to be some way to get a definitive answer.  I had problems with some 05/06 prophet 130's I got, i hope these don't have issues as well.

topsheet problems or blemishes like this can lead to delams.  I dont like those so yes it REALLY matters to me.

first of all, who cares. Second, I believe if you watch the video on the site with Eric describing the ski he mentions the little view of the core.

I HAVE THESE SKIS AND MINE DO NOT HAVE THAT PART SHOWING.  thats really weird that LINE would say every pair is like that, cause mine sure as hell isnt.

It's not a 'blemish'...it's sealed just like the rest of the topsheet, yes?  No issues then, ride them and don't give it a second thought.

So I e-mailed Line, and this is what i got

Steve,

 

First of all there is no defect to worry about.  It is purely a graphic difference and has nothing to do with the structure of the ski.  When I replied to the kid yesterday I didn’t have all the info.  I thought I did but I was given more info later.  So there were a few hundred skis that were made in early production with the window on them.  They were trying to show off the core.  For some reason, I don’t know exactly, they decided to not show the core anymore and they started building the skis without the clear part in the top sheet.  All the skis with or without this clear part of the top sheet are structurally sound and not prone to delam at all.
