Who else is pissed with the lack of snow.

i heard from Keystone's custom forecast that starting around the 19th it is supposed to start dumping.

Whatever do you know how many places across america wish they had what we have. But yes of course more snow would be great.

i heard late november early december is when its really gonna start dumping. and tempertarues everywhere in co are gonna fall

Yea dude, it sucks.  The weather shows a storm coming to Colorado next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.  Not too sure on how much snow though.

we need a dump to get it going

Wrote this in another thread about the snow here-

"We have had a high pressure system hanging over us for the better part of a month. This is a La Nina year, and there is a good chance that by the end of the season it will be average. In order for it to snow a lot in Colorado the Pacific Ocean needs to cool a little more so that so big storm cycles can churn out. It may take another month, but there is a good chance that when it goes off it will DUMP. There is a chance for snow this Sunday/Monday, so hopefully that system will just be strong enough to disturb the ridge of high pressure and shift the jetstream to Colorado. If not this one, than the next system.

Trust me, this year has been tough for us out here too, and hopefully it will start to snow in the next couple weeks and then continue to dump when you are out here."



An update since then- there have been strong storms moving into the PNW in the past week and more on the way. Right now, the jet stream (think of this as a highway for storms) is still too far north to bring the precip to Colorado, but it should shift in the next couple weeks. We need a strong enough low pressure system to shift the jet stream down to CO and then storms can get carried in from the Pacific. This year will probably not have as many SW flow storms coming up from Baja due to La Nina, so there is a good chance that SW Colorado will be below average. Northern Colorado (read Aspen/I70 resorts and up) are supposed to be average this year when all is said and done, meaning that there will hopefully be some good precipitation mid season to make up for the lack of snow so far. If we get a low pressure system over Colorado and the jet stream shifts, we could be looking at back to back to back to back etc storms rolling in mid season. Lets hope that happens.

And lets hope it snows enough next week to make the 10th mountain hut trip I'm going on the weekend after thanksgiving worth it.

Steamboat is supposedly not opening till the 30th now because of no snow!  Now i'm pissed...

you guys are fucking lucky! yes im from the midwest guess how much snow we have on the ground! NONE! so stop your whining

ok i no everyone is pissed but we need to remeber that some epic years have started out like this when i used to ski jackson it didnt snow much unitl december where there was a ok storm a week later it stormed off and on until closing day with powder every day but for the momet its horrible

Yeah, I'm basically uber-pissed, but loveland has remained unbelievably un-icy so I'm happy.

well im not that impressed so far with my first season in CO. i was expecting to have good jumps like breck had last year and be skiin real snow instead of the icy manmade shit im used to skiing in downstate ny

i am upset

well i'm in so cal and the water is BALLS cold...hopefully mother nature will start "churning"  i know my blood flow isnt!

Don't be so worried guys, it'll happen. We weren't even able to ski this early 20 years ago in Colorado.
