THE help me with videocamera thread! (NEED HELP!)

Hello,
This winter I am going to buy a camcorder. I'll mostly film park and will do alot of followcams.
I want quality as good as the HV20. I got around 1500$ maximum and I would like to have the best quality for the money.

I've been looking at the Canon HV20 but I have almost decided to not take that one since it's wobbling and the optical stabilizer isn't making a great job.

But im very new to this camcorder business and don't have much experience.

So, could any of you help me with a camera?

if you have 1500 you have enough to get a good deal on a vx2000 or gl2 on ebay

As i said in the other thread... there are ways to make it more stable, then after that its all about how smooth your riding is.
i just saw the quality of the footage and made my decision straight away.

HV20, use the extra $500 and get a nice tripod.  If you're just looking for an easy camera to use that shoots a great image, then the HV20 is it.

yeah, precisely. i paid abouit 850-900 bucks for my hv20, that leaves 700 for a phat wide angle and a nice tripod... i might also invest in once of the cheap underwater housing bags to keep it protected from the snow :o)

but still, it's boring to just film with a tripod, you want to do some followcams from time to time. will i get dissappointed of the followcams?

it wont handle any different than any other small hand held cam... if you're asking will it work, then yes.

will the followcams be more stable if i build one of those handles wich can be found on more expensive camcorders?

I have a vx and I never even use the handle on my camera, unless im carrying it down the hill or something.

Get the HV20, mini death lens, and a nice fluid head tripod.From what I've seen, the HV20 captures great footage, and has a huge widescreen.

i ave filmed with both a vx2 and gl2 ... the vx will give you a litte sharper picture then the Gl2 but the Gl2 will give you mre vivid colors.

And the HV20 is a dope camera as long as you have computer with a largeish hard drive because 
HD stuff takes up soo much space

you didnt read what i put properly.
use the tripod as a fancy camera handle.  You can attach it to the bottom of the camera... most tripods come with a handle on the side so you can put the tripod in a horizontal position and still have the camera pointing forward.  if you put something on the bottom of the tripod to balance the weight while its horizontal then it makes a more stable ride for the camera.

hv20 is a dope cam, invest in a wide angle too, raynox has 100 dollr ones

yeah, i just got a HD 0.38x wide angle for 55 dollars from ebay.  just type canon hv 20 into the search bar and look for accesories

Depends on the user. I don't like those hockey stick handles. I film much better just holding the camera itself.

im pretty much stoked about the hv20, and like 99% of me wants it.. but the last percent does not know if i should find a nice at ebay.
