Park Jumps with "kick" are no more

so a lawyer came up to the mountain to explain that all jumps in the untied states will not be able to have any kick to them due to some nimrod overshooting the landing and breaking his neck. all jumps will have landings twice as long as the takeoffs and have a wedge shape to them. It will be interesting to see what brecks world class line will look like this season.

well every body will be fear less with switch take offs it sounds liek it wouldbe really fun but it could also lead to more over shooting

Best part about this is that having kick on a jump actually makes it harder to overshoot.  Having a flat takeoff makes it way easier to overshoot a landing... and landing twice as long as the takeoff?   thats fucking TINY.  

The problem in the world here is bad park builders.  There's way too many of them and those assholes have ruined it for everyone.

if thats true, then you're right yeah its tiny, but its also a good startng place for alot of resorts who dont impose such guidlines. Im sure you and i alike have both hit our fair share of jumps whose biggest challenge isnt landing your trick, but getting the proper speed to find the landing. I know my home hill has no such restrictions, and as a result we have had many jumps that havent even been worth riding because the build just isnt fun or safe to ride. If resorts want to build the safest jumps possible they shouldnt have lawyers pulling out words that they know nothing about, but should be designing and building jumps that are safe and can be replicated by other resorts so that the industry has some of standard. Thats just my 2 cents

thats gay dude, its there fault that they overshot the jump, obviously he wasnt experienced enough to be hitting it, sueing a mt because you got hurt on a jump, thats like those obese people who sued mcdonalds for getting fat, its rediculous

but thats just the fact of the matter is that one person can change the whole industry. the lawyer used the example of the guy that bought an rv with cruise control, he put the cruise control on and walked in the back while it was still driving, got in a accident and then sued the rv company because of false advertising. he ended up winning a huge sum of money and they company had to make a special section in the handbook just for cruise control.




and as far as i know this is a nation wide law now.

trust me they have physicist making 3d animations to show the exact speed and angles of jumps going over ever possible seario. the truth is that they have all the power and they can do what they want.

people need to take responsibility for their own actions. if the dude broke his neck on a jump, its his fault.

i know he might have medical bills to pay, but thats what you americans get for having a private health system, people get hurt, cant pay their bills so they sue, and then shit like this happens.

In my opinion no one should be paying that dude that hurt himself on that jump. It sucks for him but thats his fault. My mom is a really good waterskier and when she was 13 she came up to a jump and broke both her legs because the jump had not been properly wet with the hose. My family didn't sue that camp because they didn't want to hurt the sport that they love. I wish that everyone would show the same love towards skiing. Money is the root of all evil and evil doesn't want us to have nice jumps.

When you read the article it says that a whole bunch of people got hurt on that one jump - thats even more stupid.   Watch your jumps... if people are getting hurt on them there's probably something wrong with it. 

Its not that hard to measure a jump.   I've always measured my angles and distances... doing that really helps you get a feeling for it.  

Someone needs to start a park building certification... thats the future of it.   Mix that with a park pass and you've got liability on lockdown.

i really don't see anything changing.  Like maybe the first jump of the season might be gay but soon enough the park crews will do things the way they should be.  Im not worried

i think it has a lot to do with underfunding. A lot of mountains PROBABLY dont have enough money to train or educate their park staff/ builders properly so they kinda just go on instinct builiding whatever they feel is good not necessarily safe.

quebec now has Guidelines for building parks and modules and there also need to be a sign before every module saying the difficulty, its a start and a step in the right direction i think

thats a fuckin lame thing cause here in quebec (i think) the kicker have to be 5 feet of height max or something like that because of an insurrance type of shit so the park builders dig deep in snow to do fuckin huge kickers witch switch straight spins are way tough and switch corks will almost come off naturally if you dont get pressed in the kicker by gravity and speed.

kinda sucks but i dunno...i dont like jumps that kick you 30 or so feet in the air...id rather have a little less kick and a bit more distance than a 15ft jump that shoulds you 25ft up...but no kick at all would suck fierce...

and RCR = resorts of the canadian rockies

I was at a jam this weekend and they had a jump set up. a little 10-15 footer but for a jam it was nice. they jump looked and felt the way they always feel. maybe they didn't get the memo or they just don't care.
