How big of a deal is a backflip?

backys arent really a park trick. thats just the way it is. there fun, easy, safe. good clean fun. but jus a straight up backflip in a park, in a comp , in a vid in the park, shits no good. its fuckin awesome, dont get me wrong, but ya.

When and where is a good jump to learn a backflip cuz i wanna try one but i dont wanna get paralyzed...

Build a jump in the bc. easiest way to do it. If you can't do that and are good at moguls then use one of your mtns. mogul team jumps, they have alot of kick too.

and what about switch backflip ? cause i can take off and land switch and it seems the exact same trick than on a trampoline.

Switch backflips are a whole different animal, they are WAY harder becase you don't have any lip to help you get around...Switch frontflips and normal backflips are the easiest, after that you are going against the jump.

Switch backs actually aren't that much more difficult than a regular back.  The rotation isn't hard to get and you can spot your landing through the entire trick.  If you have a solid backflip and can ride switch, they're an easy step.  Working against the "grain" of the jump isn't a problem because of the way you pop.  You just resist the jump's pop with you toes (kind of like a tantrum on a wakeboard, if you're into that) and look back and you pop right around.  Switch fronts on the other hand are tough to control.  They are more difficult to spot your landing on and the timing on the pop is more difficult.  Off from small jumps they aren't too bad (though definitely harder than switch backs and regular fronts and backs) but if you go big, pretty difficult.  That's why you don't see many pros doing them...
